STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- The spot where Joe Paterno's bronze likeness once stood is now occupied by freshly planted trees.

The weekend before, workers removed the 7-foot statue of the late coach in the wake of a child-sex abuse scandal that has engulfed the university.
