Three sources said Manziel signed photographs, footballs, mini football helmets and other items at the request of an autograph broker named Drew Tieman. Two sources, who are aware of the signing arrangement, told "Outside the Lines" that Tieman approached Manziel on Jan. 6, when he landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to attend the game between Alabama and Notre Dame the next day.

After that meeting, three sources said, Manziel, accompanied by his friend and personal assistant Nathan Fitch, visited Tieman's residence and signed hundreds of items in the main room of the apartment despite the fact that there were many people in the room. Before Manziel left South Florida, after taking in the title game, he signed hundreds of autographs more, one source said.

The source also told "Outside the Lines" that James Garland, the NCAA's assistant director of enforcement, in June contacted Tieman and at least one person associated with the signings. The source said Garland, who did not return calls from "Outside the Lines" for comment, told the person that he wanted to talk about Manziel signing items that had appeared for sale on eBay. An NCAA spokeswoman cited NCAA policy to "Outside the Lines" and declined to comment.

If the NCAA investigation finds that Manziel has violated NCAA Bylaw 12.5.2.1 -- accepting money for promoting or advertising the commercial sale of a product or service -- he could be ruled ineligible.

If he has accepted money it would be unbelievably stupid on his part.It would lead to more question marks on him in regards to his draft position.Its not like he is short of money like some college players are.That should the NCAA rules are very harsh and to potentially destroy a young mans reputation and hopes on such small issues is OTT.

Players are allowed to sign autographs, they just can't make money off of them. The only thing that's clear right now is Manziel — motivated by the childhood trauma of the Tiger snub, reportedly — signed a ton of autographs.

ESPN reports that the memorabilia market was "flooded" with an overwhelming amount of Manziel autographed items last March.

At the time, Texas A&M released a statement saying Manziel never accepted money for them. But the sheer number of items raised eyebrows.

I see this playing out like every other NCAA probe. Johnny will play this season, declare for NFL and then come January of 2015 then the NCAA will put A&M on probation and get all the wins and whatever titles they win this season stripped because now that he's in the NFL well that cash cow is gone according to the NCAA so now its time to punish the school (see Bush, Reggie)

You realize that the NCAA despises the Alabama football program? The NCAA will never do Alabama any favors, ever.

We were hammered by the NCAA with penalties that make the Bountygate penaties look like a slap on the wrist.

I'm not a big Ohio fan. I flat out despise OSU and pretty much all of the arrogant Big 10 schools. They don't play real football like down in the SEC. Hell, they can't even count.

But I tell you what, this Johnny Football garbage is a ton of BS and OSU does have a legit gripe after what the NCAA did to them. That kid is a real POS.
