The program formerly known as the University of Michigan
Not only did the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers (Rutgers!?!?!) beat the program formerly known as the University of Michigan at home (Piscataway), they blocked the game winning field goal attempt ... it was a pretty rough weekend in Ann Arbor all around, :(.

Question remains.... who is the next Michigan coach? Les Miles, Harbaugh? |

I'm right there with you, SloMo. Really sucks to be a Michigan football fan right now.

- There's a lot of reports saying Harbaugh and the 49ers don't get along, and Harbaugh might not be their HC next year. But my thing is, even if the 49ers let Harbaugh go, there would be like 10 other NFL teams trying to hire him. I don't think he would return to the college game. - Why would Miles leave LSU? He loves Michigan, but he's got a great thing going down in Baton Rouge. I don't know if he would just pack up and leave. We will probably just have to take a chance on another "up and comer", as much as that sucks. I'm really hoping for Jeremy Pruitt or a Jake Spatival hire though. I think either of those guys would be a great. |

It was declining before his arrival ... He sure as hell didn't help it.

I wanted Les when they were considering him before, but I agree, he's got too much going on at LSU to leave for a program in disarray. Another "up & comer", ... geez! All we really want to do is win the Big Ten, beat Ohio State & go to a Rose Bowl once in a while ... you'd think it wouldn't be that difficult,. |

Man, you have no idea how much I want Harbaugh lol... What he did at Stanford was absolutely amazing, I don't think I've seen another program be completely turned around like that. He'd probably fix Michigan within a season. I am definitely hoping that you're right, hopefully the NFL is sick of his antics  Haha, well hopefully if we do have to settle for an up and comer, it works out this time. Honestly I'm just hoping we look for people outside of the Michigan coaching tree this go around. I've no idea why we box ourselves in like that. Only considering people who have Michigan ties severely narrows the candidate list.. That needs to stop. |

It is time to start looking outside of the box, going with someone who doesn't necessarily have Michigan ties. You're right, the coaching talent pool has severely shrunk since the day when Bo was coaching up assistants and preparing them to run their own programs. My barber's grandson went to De LaSalle with "Sugar" Shane Morris, but other than that, I'm outmanned/outgunned by the MSU crowd in there ... next time you're in town & need a haircut, let me know ... my treat, ;). It's buzzing with speculation around U of M & I'm even wondering if they may offer Harbaugh an athletic director/head coach position similar to what Schembechler enjoyed ... he is hard to work with and would undoubtedly insist on control over a lot of functions normally reserved for an AD. Oh well, he's gonna' have plenty of offers, that's for sure. Let's just hope he's tired of the bright lights, huge paychecks & prima donna athletes of the NFL and reminisces of the good ol' days in Ann Arbor. :) |
