Looked like a glitch in a video game yesterday. Defenders bouncing off, flying in the air.

A man among boys. Syracuse stacked 8 in the box, knew it was coming but had no answer. I have seen a lot of great RB's come through the gates of LSU but Fournette is creeping up there as an all time best.

He is Cecil Collins with even more explosion (if you can believe that).

A lot of what he does is his angle when being tackled. He knows how to use his mass and force to shed the defender. It's like a jolt of power right where the defender is the weakest. Some of his teammates call it somewhat of a magic trick from what I have read. I've been trying to pick up on it some. Stiff arms he's not just sticking his arm out like most RBs. There is some physics going on.

The offensive line IS very good, but I think a big reason he goes untouched on some of his long runs is because of his vision and acceleration. He doesn't just plow ahead like so many big backs do. He's got speed that hasn't been seen for a guy his size, since Herschel Walker. Which is why I consistently compare Fournette to him.

He gets a hole, see's a cut back and just flies through it. It's a joy to watch. And when they do touch him, he always throws the first guy off, and it takes multiple players to get him down. I'm so used to guys just putting their head down and trying to run over a tackler only to be brought down and get the announcers going "oh what a hit!"... blah.

Fournette just tosses them aside and keeps going. I love it.

I've noticed that on nearly all of his outside runs. It looks like he lowers his center of gravity and leans forward as he sticks his arm out, and it causes an almost video game-like speed burst. When he gives that little push he just takes off.

I think you are on to something, makes sense. If he pushes off at the right point, there is a small window where he can use the momentum of the defender like a spring effect. If he sticks his arm out in front too far or the side to wide, he loses momentum.

In HS wrestling I had this one move I made up, very effective, guaranteed pin if I landed it. I tried to show people how to do it but most could not master it. It was very fast and precise. You had to execute it perfect or it would not work. I think he has something very similar.

He's got the best O-line in front of him that LSU has had in years.

Yes, he's a freak of nature stud and worth a top 10 pick, but give that O-line some credit too.

Everyone does give the line credit. Every good back needs a good line aswell. But not every back can do what he can. Few have ever had a skill set near his.

LSU has had a lot of great offensive lines, and this is one of them, but Fournette might break the school rushing record by close to a thousand yards. I just want to enjoy it while he's here. He'll be gone after next season and it's highly unlikely the Saints would be able to get him.

As a fan, both of my teams have had some really good running backs, but none were transcendent. Deuce came the closest with the Saints.

I recently read that every back on the team is averaging over 5 yds per carry. Of course Fournette is averaging like 8 or 9 per carry. The line is great. The WRs are fast, tall and athletic and Harris has a Cannon and can run a little too. LSU beats Ohio State in the title game this year. Go Tigers!

Re: Leonard Fournette

He likes to push the defender's opposite shoulder or the one further away from him. Seen him do this several times. Knocks the defender off balance. Very smart because that is where the defender is the weakest. They are launching or that foot is off the ground. If he hits it perfect they will go down every single time. Even without that, he's amazing but he has this one move that there is no way to prevent it. Very difficult to master but he mastered it. Most RB's just stick their arm out. He's aiming for that one spot.

I think they were specifically referring to Fournette. He's from New Orleans, and was of course directly affected by the storm.
