Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald suffers gruesome leg injury in Egg Bowl

Nick Fitzgerald has been one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC this season, but he had to leave the Egg Bowl with a horrific injury.

Fitzgerald, who had helped Mississippi State to an 8-3 record and the No. 14 spot in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, took off on a zone-read keeper early in the Bulldogs’ game against archrival Ole Miss. His leg buckled when he was tackled after a short gain, and immediately players around him knew the injury was severe.
