LSU Having Modest Recruiting Success

Wow, what a coup for Coach O...

Will coach O be there in 2018?

*sigh*... I'm afraid so. Because Joe Alleva decided it would be a brilliant idea to not only hire a guy with a poor track record from his previous head coaching experience, but to also give that guy a buyout in his contract. It's not as much as Miles' buyout, but it's not cheap.

So there's no way they're going to pay for two buyouts and another head coach right now. LSU is pretty much stuck with Orgeron, unless he just absolutely bombs in some epic way, or the boosters agree to pony up some major donations. It's unconscionable to me how they could give a buyout to a guy that no one else was going to hire as a head coach. If Alleva insisted on hiring Orgeron after whiffing on all of his other choices, he had all the leverage to hire O for relatively little, and absolutely had no reason to give a buyout.

Alleva has got to go.

There's some smoke that little Briles will be heading to Baton Rouge. It was a bad beginning for LSU football to start 2018. If Orgeron can't get this house in order and offense fixed, he'll be gone at the end of the year.

We could have gone 9-4 or better with Miles and not have to pay two head coaches and soon to be two offensive coordinators... 3 if you count Cameron.

It's sad how we still think we're a good football program but in reality, we're just a middling tier underachieving and overrated one.

Meh ... Coach O appears to be a lot of bark and no bite. The "rah, rah" speeches are getting old.

For starters, fix the QB position.

Yeah I'm hearing about Kendal Briles possibly coming in as OC.

That would seem like a nice hire, but after seeing how Orgeron handled Matt Canada, and meddling with his offense, I'm not sure I'm very confident that it will matter who the OC is. Which makes this situation no better than when Miles was here.

A lot of people criticized Canada early in the season, but there was a mass exodus of offensive lineman due to graduation, transfers, and guys getting kicked off the team during the off season. The line play killed the offense at the beginning. But once the young guys started to figure it out, our offense was much better (though obviously not great), even with an average QB. I was really looking forward to seeing what Canada could do with Miles Brennan and Lowell Narcisse next year, but ol' Orgeron had to butt heads with him.

Now we gotta start over AND hope our head coach won't get in the way... Again.
