Rabalais is missing the point. I wouldn't personally have donated money for a billboard, but I don't think many people believed this would change the decision on White's suspension. It was meant to send a message to the league office that people are paying attention to them and are sick of their garbage. Getting people's attention on the White situation, and how bad of a call it was, is meant to influence the league to get it right, if not now, then down the road when they are handling calls and officiating, in general.

I think there are simpler ways to send that message, but that's what these folks wanted to do. And even if you don't see a bias with the location of the league headquarters, you have to see that the officiating is bad, and the targeting rule (which is an NCAA rule, to be fair) is stupid. It was supposed to be CLEAR evidence of forcible contact to the head. White makes contact to the shoulders with his hands (or maybe forearms) and the crown of his helmet makes no contact. The front of his helmet MIGHT have grazed Fitzgerald after the initial contact, and even that is not clear. So how could that call have been upheld? They only looked at it for maybe 30 seconds. They seemed awful sure about something that was far from clear. I've got a problem with that, and so should anyone else who cares about fairness.

Being kicked out of the game is one thing. But to suspend him for half of the next game on top of that, on something that was, AT BEST, a grey area? This has happened before, and it can't continue.
papz and st thomas like this.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
