I don't know why you would call that racist...well, maybe. I think his accent is more of a "southern/country" thing than anything else...and here's why.
Recently the youngest daughter of my wife's cousin came visiting. We have a couple of Huskies in the yard, and the larger one, a male named Rocky, came up to greet her. He does this by getting up on his hind legs and putting his front legs over your shoulder like he is giving you a big hug.
The youngster doesn't know what he is doing, and when given the chance, she slips out of the gate and onto the other side of the fence.
When my wife asks her where she is going, her response is, "I'm scaayeered!" Anyways...she's very white but also very country...and we thought it was very coincidental that this news report happened within a couple of days of her saying the same thing.
