Two unfunded wars, with the one in Iraq being under false pretenses against a nation that posed no threat to our country, costing thousands of brave Americans their lives and limbs not protecting our nation. Add to that, giving tax breaks to our nations most wealthy at the same time, which turned a surplus from Clinton into record deficits within his first year in office. Deficits which are now systematically guaranteed without gutting defense spending and entitlement programs. All of which contributes to the gridlock in Washington. Neither side wants to touch either because it would be political suicide. The complete failure of the federal government to respond to Katrina. Putting an unqualified crony in charge of FEMA and supporting him the whole way. The Cowboy style of foriegn policy whereas our nation was going to do as it pleased regardless of the consequences or how much it increased the hatred for our nation worldwide. Appointed ultra conservative Supreme Court justices which gave us citizens united. Legal political bribery and money in politics was already an issue and now it's all about the money. No child left behind. The prescription drug program. The Patriot Act. Rumsfeld was horrible as secretary of defense. Instead of listening to the troops on the ground, Bush backed him to the very end. Granting no bid contracts to Halliburton in Iraq. Holding secret meetings with big oil to adopt an energy policy while letting gas prices double. Rejecting the Kyoto Treaty and not doing anything for our environment. Increasing the nuclear threat by withdrawing from the anti-ballistic missle treaty with Russia. Telling 45 million uninsured Americans to just go to the emergency room. Just a few off the top of my head.
