Phil can play some ball.

'Duck Dynasty' star Phil Robertson once kept Terry Bradshaw on bench - ESPN

Great read ... football & the great outdoors, a winning combination, :mrgreen:.

Re: Duck Dynasty

Not so sure that Phil was better than Bradshaw. Plenty of BU QBs ended up better than their starters.

Aaron Rodgers ---> Bret Favre
Tom Brady ----> Drew Bledsoe
Drew Brees ----> Doug Flutie

It is a pretty interesting little factoid though.

I like Phil even more now. I hope the show stays. It is pure brilliance in branding and marketing.

On May 9, Greensboro, NC country station 93.1 The Wolf reported that after receiving complaints over prayers to God and the frequent use of guns on air, Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson said, "God and guns are part of our everyday lives [and] to remove either of them from the show is unacceptable."
According to a post 93.1 The Wolf put in their Facebook page, Phil also said: "If we can't pray to God on the show, then we will not do the show." The post received more than 126,000 Facebook "likes."
Details regarding the source of the complaints have not been released. Nor has anyone clarified whether they originated within or without of A&E. Breitbart News has reached out to the network for comment.
One thing that has been reported is that A&E signed the Robertson family for another season, "under Phil Robertson's terms."

It's all fake, John.
All the old timer truckers hate Ice Road Truckers. My dad has driven that road from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay since the early sixties and he grumbles anytime someone asks him about it.

Other old timers simply want to toughen up the people on the show by putting a boot to their (posterior.)

It is entertainment.

If you look to the boobtube for reality you must not experience enough "reality" in your day to day.....

I never saw this show before. I had heard of it when it first came on, around that time.

Someone told me about this show a few weeks ago.

I cannot stop watching it.
It is so funny.
Yes, it is well scripted and everyone sticks to their roles.
Still, it is funny to me.
Very entertaining.
The LA angle is interesting to me , of course.
Relatable things like ducks for food and LA makes it fun.

Then I googled things and they are indeed an interesting family.
Their eldest son, Willie, turned the business around and up .
It is just a good show. Good people.
Funny.

wondered how long it would take for people to complain about the religious part of the show.

I live that picture! Not because its sacrilegious, but because its funny. I've posted it on Facebook before and received some snide remarks.

"People", complain about everything. Which is why PC is so absurd. If everyone is happy is because someone is stoned or sleeping.

People complain about religion, too much government, too little government, gas prices, team names, the draft, it's too hot, it's too cold, my soup is too wet, the sky is falling, the sky hasn't fallen yet.

Idiots complain about the relativity of guns and religion in this show. How exactly do people think Americans lived 100+ years ago?

Re: Duck Dynasty

It's "reality TV" and the reality of it is, is that guns & religion are part of their everyday lives. Without 'em, it becomes a 'sit-com'.

Way to 'stick-to-your-guns' Phil, :lol:.

I saw the one the other day where Willie & Sy were out looking to buy John Luke a pick-up ... I was laughing my ass off when they were in some junk yard looking at trucks with weeds growing on the motor ... the owner of the junkyard had the same persona as Sy and Willie/John Luke thought they were in some kind of 'Twilight Zone', :lol:.

Apparently the Christmas episode only airs around the Holidays, Best Buy had the DVD set of that season so I had to get it after a coworker told me about the episode.

Best 15 minutes of television is Sy dressed up like an Elf while Willie plays Santa and Sy is giving advice to the children after they tell Santa what they want for Christmas.

I understand why some people do not like the show... Its a little too close to home. :-)

I watch it from the UK and just think it's brilliant, never ceases to have me in stitches.
I would rather watch shows like this, Swamp People (gets ready for the abuse) or other real reality shows than hours of stuff like Pop Idol or the new great comedy shows where you can go an entire episode without laughing once.

Oh no, not at all, :mrgreen: ... in fact, being a fan of 'Swamp People' gains you admittance into a pretty exclusive fraternity around here, :lol: ... what's your take on the 'Walking Dead'?

I like the new guy already, ;).

Not seen that yet but getting major complaints over here because the family all sit and say grace/pray together at the end of the show. There are also complaints about them being shown going hunting or glamourising guns, times I have to just shake my head.

Major complaints because the family sits together and says grace.

That right there pretty much sums up everything that's wrong with society today. Our value system has been shot to hell. I feel sorry for our children's children.

Complains about a family on TV saying grace before a meal and footage of hunting...

Changes to a channel that broadcasts Al Jazeera ....

You're forgetting I live in UK we're not allowed to have any religion especially in my age bracket. It's a consumerist buy everything pre packed don't know where anything has come from place and if your not an atheist then you are viewed as being abnormal.

Maybe you should gather like minded people, a few boats and find a new mother-land....
