California woman says gym told her to cover up because she was intimidating members
A California woman says a Planet Fitness gym asked her to wear more clothes two weeks ago during workouts because she’s intimidating other members with her toned body.
KTVU reports that Tiffany Austin, wearing a pink tank top and pants, had her first workout at the Bay Area gym and she hopped on a treadmill. Austin was set to get back into shape after a recent car accident. But she told the station that after 15 minutes on the machine, a staff member stopped her and said, "Excuse me, we've had some complaints you're intimidating people with your toned body, can you put on a shirt?" The report points out that Planet Fitness separates itself from other gyms in ads and bans "gymtimidation" and has a "lunk alarm" that sirens every time someone drops a weight.
