Free Corn
CATCHING PIGS THIS IS THOUGHT PROVOKING. In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked astrange question. He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?" The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said that it was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by findinga suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigsfind it and begin to come every day to eat the corn. "When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one sideof the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to thefence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put upanother side of the fence. "They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until youhave all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. "The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through thegate to eat that corn again. You then slam the gate on them andcatch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soonthey go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that theyhave forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accepttheir captivity." The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he seeshappening in America. The government keeps pushing us towardCommunism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form ofprograms such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not toplant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continuallylose our freedoms, just a little at a time. One should always remember two truths: There is no such thing as a freelunch, and you can never hire someone to provide a service for youcheaper than you can do it yourself. If you see that all of this wonderful government "help" is a problemconfronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to sendthis on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to yourway of life, then you will probably delete this email. But, God help us allwhen the gate slams shut! Quote for today: "The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a livingare now outnumbered by those who vote for a living." --Anonymous |
This is so true. Same here in Germany!
Somewhere over the rainbow! |
Right on the money.
I should add that the corn is also purchased with the pigs' own money. |
and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.
Yes, it would be cheaper to give myself an appendectomy, and to fix my own transmission, and replace my AC unit, but I don't think the result would be the same. |

Just kidding of course. |

Anyway, I am not sure how the quote I highlighted is an accepted 'truth', and to be honest, I don't really see how it fits in the article. Yes, we should not be too reliant on the government, but being to reliant on doctors and service providers doesn't seem like socialism to me |
Wait a minute, who's giving out the free corn again? I was busy removing my appendix ... or my gall bladder ... hard to tell.
