Fantasy Baseball 2011

I know this is a forum section dedicated to Fantasy Football, but I'm just gonna post it here.

Fantasy Baseball 2011 is here and it looks to be an interesting year. I'm looking at playing two leagues this year, but maybe just the one. Is anyone else playing? Are you rooted in a multi-year keeper league? I'm going to try my best (having college and all) to keep some regular updates going on here about pickups, dropoffs and checking in on how our teams are doing.

papz 02-28-2011 05:47 PM

Are you looking for a league to join?

BringTheWood 03-06-2011 12:51 AM

Nah I have two atm, can't effectively manage any more lol. Thanks though.

neugey 03-07-2011 09:39 PM

Agreed, I'm limiting myself to one league this year.

This is mostly auto-draft as I was unable to be present for the date they decided on :(
I won in my money league on an auto-draft last year too though, so we'll see what happens.
Buchholz was a keeper.

EDIT: As long as Utley can get and stay healthy, I pulled in the best overall infield in my league, 12 team makes it pretty deep.

papz 03-20-2011 08:56 AM

Well at least you got Beckham as a insurance plan. Utley dropped past the 6 round in my league... they've put no time table on his return and he could be out for a several months. Very risky move... hope it works out for you. Just my opinion but the auto-draft didn't like you.

Agreed. I will likely change this really soon by dropping most of my hitters bench and loading up my SP. Mostly people that play FBaseball are morons who will take an avg hitter for a stud pitcher. I should be able to deal Reynolds and Butler nicely.

I have to say though, I am quite pleased at scoring McCann, albeit in his normalish draft spot, and Ian Desmond. Desmond is performing pretty average in spring training, but he has a pretty good upside. This all knowing that the only 2 SS that are really all-stars go round in 1; Tulo and HanRam, and I got Desmond at 11.

Neugey - I like the speed and it's pretty balanced. I think the concern with your team isn't going to be closers(they pop up everywhere during the season on the WW), it's going to be power and rbis. You have only one legitimate power source on your team in Reynolds... I'd probably try a big bat or two while not overpaying. Someone like Ike Davis, ManRam, Quentin, Hideki Matsui or even a Juan Rivera probably could be had for reasonable price.

BTW - Are Raja Davis or Coco Crisp available in your league? Even though the Utley pick is probably going to hurt early, it's actually not a bad team. You could use some of neugey's speed though. =]

BringTheWood 03-22-2011 03:58 PM

Unfortunately they are both taken, by the same guy no less. I am trying to trade Markakis and Cabrera for Chris Young (OF) and John Axford atm, otherwise there doesn't seem to be too much speed available at the moment. I'm high up on the waiver wire priority, second from the top actually, and hope that once we see who the sure starters are that I can grab some decent speed from free agency.

Agreed Papz - I'm currently trying to trade Ellsbury for a power hitter (I have an offer out involving Vlad Guerrero). Perhaps I shouldn't have drafted Ellsbury but I was thinking BPA at the time when I drafted him and Pagan.
