Wow! I just heard this on the radio. 48 years old. Such a shame - she had a terrible addiction problem. Just a shame...

Whitney Houston -- Prescription Drugs Found ... Possible Drowning [Exclusive Photo Update]

No illegal drugs have been found in the hotel room where Whitney Houston died -- at least not yet -- but prescription drugs were present, and it's possible the singer drowned in the bathtub ... TMZ has learned. Sources tell us ... when EMTs arrived Whitney's body was already removed from the bathtub so it will take an autopsy to determine if she OD'd, drowned or died from some other cause.Informed sources tell us ... Beverly Hills cops -- who were still searching the room at the time this story was posted -- found various pill bottles. There was no evidence that Whitney was drinking alcohol in the room.Whitney's body was just removed from the room on a gurney.* It will go to the morgue for an autopsy to determine cause of death.

My view is probably the very unpopular one...but I don't know why people are glorifying her...she was a drug addict.

jcp026 02-13-2012 10:49 AM

I don't care. I just hope I don't have to hear about it as long as Michael Jackson.

Luda34 02-13-2012 10:58 AM

Tragic I hate to here stuff like that from a gifted person.

Rugby Saint II 02-13-2012 12:45 PM

Tragic, but that's the path for a lot of stars.

'was' being the operative word here.

SloMotion 02-14-2012 07:56 AM

... well, when people pass, you remember them how you want to remember them ...

... never could figure out why she wasn't asked to sing the National Anthem more often ...

I agree. If she "was" an illegal drug addict and went to a "legal" drug addict, she is still an addict. Terrible disease and a terrible life for all involved. She was very talented and drugs destroyed her, very sad. Doesn't put her on a pedestal to me.

QBREES9 02-15-2012 10:53 PM

Very sad to see someone waste their gift for drugs. She choose drugs over here daughter her family. It's just a dam shame. Money might not be able to buy happiness but it can kill ya.

Same reason people glorify Elvis.

Agreed and I would also like to hear less about Elvis on his death anniversary date. Birthdate. How long has this guy been dead? Really. About 35 yrs now. He has a postage stamp. He, a drug addict , was given a USA postage stamp. Then again, Bille Holiday was also given a USA postage stamp.

I know this is not the popular opinion of the day, but I do not believe drug and alcohol addiction are diseases. A disease is something that befalls you through no fault of your own. One has to seek out drugs and alcohol. One doesn't seek out Breast Cancer for example. Once a body develops a craving and tolerance to drugs , alcohol, then it is addiction mood.
A disease is your cells going haywire or something. Saying drugs and alcohol are diseases are excuses and even people , like Dr. Drew , want to say these are diseases. If saying there are diseases then and not their fault, then that defeats the purpose. Also, other negative behaviors are being called diseases like sex addiction, gambling, and overeating. Why stop there? What about crimes being a disease too.
Where does the disease excuse stop?

I do not beleive in glorifiyng entertainers, sports start, celebrity news reporters, and well, anybody that fits in that world.
Yeah, I buy the magazines, go to the concerts, movies, watch the tv, and was a fan of Whitney Houston's, but I think it has to be kept in perspective about the entertainers ( famous people world ).The gov. of NJ flying the state's floag at half-mst. No. However, Gov. Chrisitie did this for Clerance Clemons. Whoever was the gov. in NJ when Frank Sinatra died did the same thing.
No. The flag should not have been at half-mast for any of these people.
The only n cleb I can think of who died and probably had a US flag and state flags at half -mast was ...ready for it....BOB HOPE!!!!
Current day entertainers/celebrities who would fit Bob Hope....
ehhhh...I'll say Oprah.
There are not many entertainers/famous people out there of really good character.

I agree in that Whitney had so much talent ,looks, wealth, natural health, connections to her career in her mom being Cissy Houston, cousin being Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, ...some people like Whitney got it all and threw it all away. Everything.
Some of us get none. Nothing. :-(
