FOX/others gonna regret huge broadcasting contracts
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ng-career-ends
As of late the Manning Bros' and independent media like Jomboy have opened Pandora's box and changed minds that viewers need a traditional PBP/color broadcast. Much the opposite, fans are craving the opposite and enjoying new formats. I know Brady is a big name, but 10 years for an unproven talent in such a dynamic landscape? Ouch! |
Re: FOX/others gonna regret huge broadcasting contracts
The money they pay the individual broadcasters is a drop in the bucket for the broadcasting companies. They are making a killing from advertisers even after the record-setting new contracts with the league. Anything they throw out there just needs some sort of NFL tag on it and the advertisers eat it up. Super Bowl LVI (2022) time slots were selling out immediately and bringing in $6.5 million for a 30 second spot. That's more than double what they were getting in 2010 ($2.954 million) and more that triple what they got in 2000 ($2.1 million) for the same 30 spot.
As for those Manning brother's broadcasts, they aren't replacing the traditional broadcasts, they are adding to the overall numbers. The same with the Nickelodeon broadcasts. These are bringing in demographics that normally are not watching the traditional fare. It simply adds more advertising revenue for the same game that is also being broadcast on another network. |

If anyone ever wondered why their cable TV bill is so high and their streaming services have rapidly risen...
