NFL Has SERIOUS Problem as GREED is Destroying the League

Re: NFL Has SERIOUS Problem as GREED is Destroying the League
More of a rant than a hot take, but he's right.
For the record, I had Amazon Prime before they started broadcasting games and I have Peacock to watch the English Premier League. I don't think I would be signing up for those just for the NFL. I do wonder sometimes if they even care about ratings anymore. I mean if Amazon is going to give them a billion dollars to broadcast NFL games 1 day a week, do they even care if anyone watches? |

The REF who was waving the flag
That began with the MYSTICAL HAND (2009 NFCCG Remember?) Hip hooray! The NFL WAY The FIELD is a STAGE; the STAGE is a world of ENTERTAINMENT! The NFL "cares" about one thing, more venues equals more games equals MORE MONEY!!! Lay your money down easy, SMILE when they take it away! |
Re: NFL Has SERIOUS Problem as GREED is Destroying the League
If the NFL wants more money, they should expand to 36 teams and realign to 6 divisions with 6 teams each.

Roger ruined the NFL. He worships the dollar at the expense of the fans and the game.

I for one cannot get enough of the NFL. I believe that is probably the prevalent viewpoint of NFL fans today. The game has never been more popular and the fans are eating it up more than ever. |
Re: NFL Has SERIOUS Problem as GREED is Destroying the League
I'd have to respectfully disagree. Goodell is a douchebag.
He's done nothing but make the NFL look like the WWE. Easily the worst commissioner in the big 4 sports in my lifetime. I've seen so many $#$! calls by refs, so many stupid rule changes (we still don't know what pass interference is or what a catch is), so much woke BS, and so much greed that the NFL almost doesn't qualify as a legit sport. And all this man can worry about is peddling the game on pay services or internationally while giving the middle finger to older fans like me. There is a tipping point where this is not going to work and I think he's getting close. I love the Saints (being a Louisiana native) and will always want them to win, but I don't take the NFL seriously any longer. I think Goodell is as big of a script writer as HHH - and a much less likeable one... I give my passion to the NHL where the guys make a whole lot less coin and beat the hell out of each other for the love of the game and for the chance for the Cup - not for ESPN highlights or insane contracts. |

I think it's great that you are passionate about the NHL. I personally don't care for it myself. I rank the major sports as for enjoyability in this order -- NFL, PGA, MLB, LPGA, NCAA football, WNBA and then the others if nothing else is available, including the History Channel. :D |
Re: NFL Has SERIOUS Problem as GREED is Destroying the League
I don't disagree that he's raking in the money, but my thought is it is unsustainable.
I used to buy NFL merch all the time, have Sunday Ticket every year, and even attend games in the Dome periodically. No more. The NFL has not see one thin dime out of my pockets since about 2018 and I don't think I am alone. The Taylor Swift fan base if fickle and will not always be there for the NFL. The game is a shell of what I grew up watching. Maybe I lay too much of the blame on Goodell and not enough on the owners, but this game has been wussified and whored out to the $. Folks should give the NHL a try. I never was much in to it because I did not understand the rules and the strategy. Once I watched enough to know that, it is an awesome game. And almost all of the players are just down to earth blue collar guys. Not the prima donas of the NFL or the thugs of the NBA. |
