Just as the "Days Without an Arrest" meter was getting close to the all-time record, it finally can be re-set to zero.

Panthers linebacker Jon Beason has been arrested for aggravated assault, per WCNC-TV, Charlotte's NBC affiliate.

Via WCNC's Twitter feed, the arrest arises from a November 15 incident during which Beason allegedly punched a man.

Beason was released in exchange for a written promise to appear in court.

A leader of the Panthers' defense, Beason is regarded as one of the best young linebackers in the league.

If convicted of the charges, Beason will be subject to discipline under the league's Personal Conduct Policy.
