this is a discussion within the NFL Community Forum; Since there's only been 2 teams in the modern NFL era to have perfect regular seasons '72 Dophins (14-0) and the '07 Patriots (16-0) and currently there are 15 teams that have never won the Super Bowl I ask... Which ...

Which is harder: 16-0 or Win Super Bowl?
Since there's only been 2 teams in the modern NFL era to have perfect regular seasons '72 Dophins (14-0) and the '07 Patriots (16-0) and currently there are 15 teams that have never won the Super Bowl I ask...
Which accomplishment is more difficult? I think a perfect regular season is much harder. Of course you have 16 "chances" to lose as opposed to making the playoffs, get hot or stay dominant and win just 2 or 3 games to win it all. |

Every year somebody wins a Superbowl. Undefeated seasons are very rare.

The perfect regular season is harder. Like foreverfan says, someone wins the Superbowl every year.
But of course winning the Super Bowl is more important. That is the point of playing in the NFL. Now if a team could do both...that is something really, really special. |

JMO but I think an undefeated season is much more difficult. The playoffs are a small stretch of consecutive wins, although the competition is stiff for the Superbowl I still think the perfect season is tougher to accomplish.

16-0 is harder. Based on statistics of what has gone before.
Also, one team from 16 NFC always gets to the SB; ditto AFC. And then one of the teams has to win. The team getting to the SB has to a reasonable regular season and then win a maximum of "just" 3 games to get to SB, then win the SB. + 4 games, albeit against the alleged best. |
