Matt Leinart could be traded soon

Profootballtalk's Gregg Rosenthal passes along a "rumor" that the Cardinals plan to dangle benched quarterback Matt Leinart in trade talks.

The target is Seattle, where former Leinart college coach Pete Carroll is now the head man. Rosenthal stresses that he received the rumor from a "tipster," so it's not a formal "report." The tipster did earn major points by predicting via email that Leinart would be out in Arizona on Thursday. In Seattle, Leinart would battle Charlie Whitehurst and J.P. Losman for the right to back up Matt Hasselbeck. He wouldn't threaten Hasselbeck's starting job.
