The camel has its nose under the tent!
After years of tiptoeing through the tulips in the Twin Cities, the Vikings and the NFL have brought out the wrecking ball.
A day after Vikings V.P. of stadium wrangling Lester Bagley responded to Governor Mark Dayton’s warning that a deal to build a new venue must be finalized next year by saying “there is no next year,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told Dayton that a failure to finalize a stadium bill in the current (and soon to be ending) legislative session will lead to “serious consequences.” Goodell tells Minnesota governor failure to pass stadium bill will trigger |
I feel like if the Vikings had ever WON SOMETHING in their long and miserable lives, like a Super Bowl, the non-football population of Minnesota would be a lot more into supporting the team and willing to cough up for a stadium or work out a deal, etc. But I think the people in Minnesota who aren't hardcore football fans, are kind of fed up with the Vikings always losing/choking.... It'd be a lot more likely to have support from the legislature if they had a consistent winning program, but going to the NFC Championship game once in recent years and then imploding is not going to inspire the citizenry to get behind the team.
