NFL to look for replacement officials as negotiations continue - NFL.com
As the NFL negotiates a new labor deal with its officials, the league has initiated contingency plans to find potential replacements for the 2012 season. According to FoxSports.com, the league suggested in a letter to its chief recruiter of officials, Ron Baynes, that he identify good candidates among recently retired college officials, lower-division college officials and "professional league and semi-professional league officials ... who have the ability to work higher levels but just got overlooked." "This is a contingency plan to make sure the NFL season will continue on schedule as planned," Baynes said. The league's agreement with its regular officials expired after last season. The NFL last used replacement officials briefly in 2001, but reached an agreement with its regular officials after the first week of the regular season. "Our negotiations with the referees association are continuing and we are optimistic that there will be a successful resolution," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told FoxSports.com. |

There will be instant replay on every play.....only thing is there won't be anything instantaneous about it. Slow the game down.....yeah, that's what the NFL wants.

Hey I'll take the job. I can be just as good or bad.

Maybe is a good thing, they really, really, really, really sucked hard last year. Maybe it would actually be an improvement.

I at least feel like if it were the real refs, then their bias against the Saints next year would at least be sort of manageable, or something that I could deal with, at least a lot of them are sort of known entities and you know what's up with them....but if they bring in the scrubs, this next season is going to be a joke, it will be off the chain with the penalties against the Saints, you can pretty much guarantee it . The scrub refs will be throwing flags against the Saints right and left, in the hopes of getting noticed by the Comish, and maybe landing a full time job
