Replacement Referees still getting a paycheck
 

If you remember the article I wrote on the NFL signing the replacement referees to officiate through week 5, then this should come as no surprise.

The NFL has decided to pay all 121 replacement referees for officiating in week 4, despite the fact that the regular officials will be officiating all of the games.

There is no word yet on if the NFL will also pay them for officiating week 5 games , per their original agreement, but I can speculate that the answer would be yes.

A new collective bargaining agreement was agreed upon by the NFL and NFLRA early thursday morning.

Voting on the ratification of the new agreement took place Friday and Saturday. The locked out referees relieved the replacement referees starting with the Thursday night Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns game.

The NFL should have to pay the refs for the entire season, whether they ref anymore or not.

They pulled these guys away from their regular jobs and assignments as officials in college sports, or working at McDonalds, and what are they gonna do, drop them on their butts without severance?

These guys should never have been pulled in by Goodell to ref in the NFL to start with. The replacement ref situation was not their fault.

The article writer needs to grow up.
