Please tell me us Saints fans weren't this pathetic when we finally became a winning team!!

ATLANTA — During their dismal first season, the Atlanta Falcons' mascot - a real bird - apparently decided he had seen enough bad football.

So, he picked up and left. Just flew away.

For the better part of the next four decades, plenty of Atlantans probably wished they could've followed the lead of that prescient falcon in 1966. This was the home of a team that always found a way to quickly snuff out whatever hope it had.

The franchise's only trip to the Super Bowl? That was ruined by the arrest of perhaps its most respected player the night before the big game. The Michael Vick era? That crashed and burned when it was discovered the one-of-a-kind quarterback had another passion - dogfighting.

Well, look at the Falcons now.

They have put together four straight winning seasons and are well on their way to a fifth, joining Houston as the only teams that are still unbeaten five weeks into the season. Since the beginning of 2008, the Falcons have won 48 out of 69 games. Only the New England Patriots have won more during that span.

No one could have imagined the Falcons ever becoming a model franchise.

Fairweather fans. Has anyone else noticed that it took the Saints being out of contention due to certain circumstances for the Falcons fans to all of the sudden care so much about their team?! I mean, forgive me if I'm wrong (and don't bother because I'm not) but the Falcons have had terrific seasons the last few years and their fans apparently didn't care. Their start to this season isn't much different than they've had lately but when they don't have the Saints battling them for the top spot then their fans care lol.

Turner's situation could come to a head after the regular season. Knowing Roger's justice sytem he will probalby let it go since it will take 3 years to get reach a decesion.

Turner is not going to be suspended. If he is, the media would have spoken up already.

If by some chance he does, then I guess Quizz will finally get his time to shine. Our running game would take some damage, but not a fatal blow.

Falcons were so pathetic they had to stop a game back in the 70s to hand a trophy to a RB that reached 1000 yards rushing, and then lost it to go under 1000 yards for the season.

Cant get any worse than that.

Quite possibly the classiest, and most focused team in the NFL:hallucinate:. Of course your not going back to the Super Bowl... You didnt know how to act when you got there the first time.

They benefited from our situation without question. If the tables were turned, hey that's life, but no way could I feel like we were some great team. Fortunate yes, they are seizing the moment I'll give them that much but facts are facts.

They have squanderd opportunity after opportunity and that falls on coaching. That also trickles down to the players. Their star RB gets a DUI and their receivers who have never done anything are running their mouths like they have already won 2 titles. All they have done is win a handful of game in a row. Big deal. There is still a lot of football left and if anyone wants to go down memory lane at one point we won 8 games in a row and then failed to make the playoffs.

Won a handful of games in a row, but they need to wake up and smell the coffee that none of those opponents are really playoff contenders either except maybe San Diego.

Worst is the fact they have been lucky as **** to beat 3-4 of those teams.

You realize that includes divisional games? Naturally that means the higher ranked teams in the division the previous years are going to appear to have a much weaker schedule than the rest of their division right?

A schedule includes ALL games. Yes, it did dawn on me that divisional games were a part of the schedule. I never said the Falcons has a choice in picking their schedule, only that is is pretty damn weak. Reasoning for your schedule has nothing to do with how weak it is.

This was your year to play the AFC West, the weakest division in the league. They were a .500 division last year and thus far a .500 division at best this year, also being the weakest again in terms of record.

It is what it is... accept that. You cant defend it.

All you can do is play the schedule you're given, and so far we're undefeated. We could be 1-4 after all. :D
