Although I don't care who wins it all, at least we can all be happy that it won't be Atlanta.

Don't worry falcons will get their ring a few years after saints get their second. Then though Ryan will be dealing with Stafford, Rodgers, Wilson, Cousins, and RG3.............

Re: AND THE ICE HAS MELTED!!!!!
SB wins. For the team that wins it that year for their previous season, that is the relevant team.
NY Giants who? Dallas Cowboys and their fans, the media and the owner think they win it every year, but the years of Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson were last century. Right now the focus is on SF 49er's and whoever wins AFC champ. Atlanta fan atlillide, the Falcons had a good year. A wining year. Good playing. Good team. Good calls . Good luck. Good schedule with the second half being really easy for them. The fans of Atlanta should be proud of their team. the city of Atlanta should give their team a parade of a something at the GeorgiaDome. AtlFal are not NFC champs and are not in the SB yet and that is ok. |

The Falcons and their fans should feel a sense of accomplishment. I mean they did just clothe a great number of 3rd world kids with the championship t-shirts they won't be selling.

"Regular Season Champs, woohoo!" |
Re: AND THE ICE HAS MELTED!!!!!
Matty "Ice" Ryan and the Falcons have gotten a lot of criticism over the last few years for their inability to win the big games.
So, in the third quarter, when the game got close and the season was on the line, how did "Ice" respond? To be fair, it could be said that just one mental error could be a fluke, so on the very next drive... Apparently, this type of "Ice" melts when the pressure is on. |
Re: AND THE ICE HAS MELTED!!!!!
It doesn't get much more damning than that. The evidence is pretty overwhelming that this is what Matt Ryan does and that he can't get it done when the stakes are high.

Re: AND THE ICE HAS MELTED!!!!!
Anyone seen the new Matt Ryan/Falcons jacket? It's flashy and durable for about four months, but by January it comes apart at the seams.
|
Anyone remember before SB44 how falcon fans used to say "At least we've been to a superbowl"? That was their ultimate smack talk but it was true. Now the tables are turned and until Atl actually wins a SB, that will forever be their glory in history - losing in a superbowl.

Re: AND THE ICE HAS MELTED!!!!!
If Atlanta ends up in a superbowl at some point, I'm just soooo glad it's not this year.
They have enough talent to get there. This was their best chance for a while, however, because the Saints are back with a vengence next year. |

Re: AND THE ICE HAS MELTED!!!!!
I think it all comes down to the lack of one thing for the Falcons: killer instinct. Sure, they went 13-3, but in how many of those games did they just squeak by? It happened several times during the regular season. They had big leads against the Seahawks and Niners and let both teams get back in it once they took their foot off their necks. They pulled a rabbit out of their hat against the Seahawks, but the rabbit quickly jumped into a boiling pot of water against the Niners. I guess they were afraid they would be chastised for "running up the score". In our Super Bowl year, the Saints were winning handily in the majority of our games, because they never let up. The Falcons always seemed to put it in cruise control after getting what they thought was a comfortable lead. You may can slide by in the regular season that way, but when it comes to the playoffs, you CANNOT give the opponent any slack. It eventually bit them in the ass, just like I knew it would.
In short, the Falcons remind me a lot of any sexual encounters at my age. Start off strong out of the gate, and by the end, it's just a lot of flailing and flopping around until I finally collapse, but I still think I'm on top of the world. :p |
