INDIANAPOLIS -- According to multiple reports, the San Francisco 49ers have wrapped up a trade that will put quarterback Alex Smith in a new city. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported via Twitter that the 49ers have sewed up negotiations with a willing trade partner. The interested team is not yet known, though Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com says that from everything he's heard around the scouting combine this week, the Kansas City Chiefs have a deal for Smith that is "all but done."

Presumably he'll be throwing it around a lot under Andy Reid. I dunno if that's a good or bad thing ... he's still Alex Smith, after all.

I don't know if that is such a bad decision...

Alex Smith is a lot better than any QB the Chiefs have on their existing roster and Smith is not half bad overall.

He did put up bunches of yards against us in that play-off game, passing and on the ground...

Considering the crap defense the Saints have fielded the last couple of years, his success against the Saints should come as no surprise!

Joe Montana couldn't fix the Chiefs; I doubt Alex Smith will do any better!

Would be a good move by the Chiefs since it would free them up to pick a LT with the 1/1. They have a decent TE, WR (if the resign him) and RB, if they improve their QB situation with Smith and upgrade their OL that O can become pretty good.

I think they will be the most improved team in the league next year.Would surprise me if they make the playoffs if they re-sign Albert,Bowe and pick up Joeckel and one of the good WR on the market.They would have there Tackles locked up,a pair of WR,great RB and 5 pro bowlers on defence.

Joe Montana didn't have Jerry Rice to throw a 10 yard pass that turned into an 80 yard TD run at KC.
