Chase Daniel to Chiefs
teams interested in him by rumor or report
"CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Chiefs are "very interested" in free agent Chase Daniel. Per La Canfora, Daniel's market has been surprisingly "very hot" and he could command a long-term backup deal worth "in excess" of $3 million per season. Daniel, 26, would be a respectable clipboard holder for Alex Smith in Kansas City." Re: Chase Daniel
Then again, we don't exactly have money to pay backups this season. Hope it falls through and he stays. |

Fujita with the Browns, those sacks and interceptions -- no question in my mind something was going on. All the crazy stuff they did with special teams in that game, could easily have come from the Cleveland coaches having more time to look in depth at that stuff, because Fujita was helping the defensive side of the ball, giving the defense pointers and coaching them up. Having "help" on D is one potential explanation for the full-frontal punch in the mouth the Browns gave us. Also one that I'll never forget, in the 1st Giants game with Shockey as a Saint, in 2009... I forget the exact point in the game, there was a crucial Giants offensive play -- I think the Giants had an important 3rd down to convert, or something like that...there was a timeout, the Saints defense came over to the sidelines, and Shockey was suddenly in the defensive huddle with the guys, talking to the defense. I mean I saw it with my own two eyes, there it was...maybe it was just a pep talk, but here was a situational thing of down and distance, an offense he knew.... Shockey stepped in and talked to the defense, and whatever was said, they definitely stopped the Giants offense on that drive. It doesn't have to be formalized, even just a guy saying to the defense, "look out for the blah blah blah play, they are gonna run left" on the sidelines can really make a difference. |

Re: Chase Daniel
Hate to say it but I would totally pull the trigger on that in Kansas City, if I was the coach there. In a lot of ways he and Alex Smith have similar "good but not GREAT" skill sets, it's a style based on kind of average QB play, and they both can tuck and run with the ball to move the chains, which can sometimes give a defense fits. Smith is definitely better, but I'm really not even sure Smith is all THAT much better than Chase, they're both pretty mediocre actually. They have oodles of cap space over there in KC, too.
