Re: Bushrod is now a Bear

Our line has been a revolving door for years. We'll be alright.

Brown, Bushrod, Nicks, Grubbs, Faine, Goodwin, De La Puente, Stinchcomb, Strief, Brown, etc.

We always manage to find the next "right" fit to continue to do what we do. Goodluck to Bushrod... I'm glad he got paid.

I am not at all happy with this. Good for Bushrod but Brees has made sure he will get the protection he deserves.

Brown, even when healthy, is garbage. One of our worst draft picks since Sully. If we are relying on him to protect Brees, we are in deep sh*t.

Best of luck to Bushrod. He came out of nowhere, played really good football for us, and seemed to be a classy guy who represented the organization well. He's a good left tackle, not elite, but still gave us some reliability at that position. I disappointed he's gone.

Bushrod got a LOT of negapinion on Black&Gold.
He did a great job and I'm glad he got his payday.
One or two bad days got stuck in peoples minds, but week in and week out he did his job.
He's not going to be crying to come back to NOLA even if he struggles with the Bears.
He'll just keep trying to help his new team while counting up to $35 million.
NOW we have to figure out how to "adequately" replace him on Brees' blindside.
It won't be easy and we definitely can't leave that door open and hope for good success.
I'm happy for him though I hate to see him go.
I hope I'm not missing him at all once the season starts.

He got his payday so good for him, but he will be on the streets in 3

Cutler better step up his release time. Drew makes O-linemen look better. They wouldn't let Bushrod go if they didn't have a plan in place. I thought we could keep him and I don't think Brown is the answer. Strief and Robinson...maybe.

I tend to think that players (especially big fat lazy linemen) tend to regress once they get their big paydays. I like the idea of saving money and giving a hungry newcomer a chance.

Re: Bushrod is now a Bear

In my opinion, the only thing that made the Saints decision to let Jamaal Brown go look good, was the fact that he couldn't stay healthy. I think they saw that coming. But some people in here make it sound like Bushrod took over and played just as well as Brown, in his prime. He wasn't that good. He was serviceable, and needed a lot of help. We'll now replace him with the most serviceable OT we can afford, or possibly draft.

Look on our roster and tell me who any one of you see as remotely reliable? We are in a far worse situation at OT now than we were when Jamaal left. This "next man up" hoopla is foolishness. The Saints will definitely bring in someone. There isn't a next man up on this team.

All I can say is that I wish him all the best in trying to keep Cutler healthy, haha.
For real though, next time JC goes down, they're gonna point the finger at their overpaid tackle in the Windy City.

IDK, Kromer might be able to get that O-line to play a lot better than it has in the recent seasons, and he can probably find ways to better compliment Cutler's way of playing.

Best of luck to him in Chicago. Maybe I'll root for them when they play the Packers and Vikings.

It is what it is at this point. We may just miss him!

Re: Bushrod is now a Bear

I am sad to see Bushy go, but I think a lot of his success was due to the different schemes we ran, as well as Drew's ability to get rid of the ball. I don't think he is an elite tackle. Sometimes the system and the protection schemes mask weakness. Maybe I am wrong, but I feel like he can be replaced. Hope I am right
