Re: Mathieu wants to shed nickname
People gave him that nickname out of respect for making monster plays. It's a tribute to him. Not sure why he wants to ditch it. If I were him I'd just roll with it like Neon Deon or the the Moose Johnson or Sweetness. It's a GOOD thing, something he desperately needs right now.

He is trying to run from himself..... No confidence that he can control it.

Re: Mathieu wants to shed nickname
I like the nickname and as noted, it was given to him for his play on the field (& possibly for his habit of bleaching his hair?). He should embrace it ... be the 'Honey Badger', Tyrann.
One season of penance with the Arizona Cardinals and not testing positive or getting busted for anything stupid should suffice to show his resolve to play in the NFL. Think of it as a character-builder, Tyrann. Now get out there & bust some heads!. ps. Shrimp po-boy pics are great distractions and considered authorized thread hijacking material, in my book.. |

Re: Mathieu wants to shed nickname
Sorry, he will forever be known as the Honey Badger... it was a reflection of his tenacity on the field. Wear it proud.
