The "Stone Cold" truth about Tony Romo
Many of you know "Stone Cold" Steve Austin from his days of raising hell for Vince McMahon in the WWE.
But now, Austin would like you to know him for his skills behind the microphone on his new podcast, "The Steve Austin Show." Austin usually uses his digital platform to interview athletes from the world of pro wrestling and mixed martial arts, such as WWE Hall of Famer "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and UFC fighter Chael Sonnen. But this week, Austin opened the lines up and took some calls ... and it didn't take long for the conversation to turn to the biggest sports hot button issue in his home state of Texas. Austin was asked if he was a Dallas Cowboys fan. "Man, I tell you what, I kind of float around on the NFL and if the Cowboys could get their (expletive) straight, I could say that I'm a tried and true Cowboys fan," the Texas Rattlesnake responded. But Austin's problem with the Cowboys quickly came to a head ... and it's the same problem many Cowboys fans have had over the last several years. "My problem with Dallas is I think Tony Romo is a damn good quarterback, but he (expletives) the bed at the most inopportune times," Austin said. "So when I look for leadership, I can't say that Tony Romo is the clear-cut leader." Oh, don't worry Romo, you aren't the only one Austin opened a can of whoop ass on. "Jerry Jones, love the guy, but you have to let someone else make the decisions," Austin added. "I think Jerry Jones is caught up a little too close in it." Austin quickly turned his attention back to Romo though, and gave some insights into his issues with Romo's leadership abilities. "I just read in the newspaper that he was going to spend more 'Peyton Manning' like time in the film room," Austin said. "Now, this is what, 6-8 years into his career? He should have been doing that from the get-go, so I think he's finally understanding what the game is all about." Austin knows a thing or two more than you might expect about the game of football. Before embarking on one of the greatest pro wrestling careers of all time, Austin, then known as Steve Williams, received a full football scholarship to the University of North Texas, but dropped out of school just before graduating and began training to become a pro wrestler in Dallas with World Class Championship Wrestling. So, Romo might not want to take Austin's criticisms of the quarterback lightly, or he might just end up on the wrong end of a Stone Cold Stunner. "He's got all the physical tools," Austin concluded. "He's inherently accurate, he's got a quick release. He doesn't have the strongest arm in the world, but he can damn sure throw. "So he just needs to do some brain work." And that's the bottom line ... because "Stone Cold" said so. The "Stone Cold" truth about Tony Romo |

Re: The "Stone Cold" truth about Tony Romo
if dallas fans need a "wrestler" to tell them romo sucks, well then they're dumber than i thought.
i telluwhut, them boys ain't right. |
Re: The "Stone Cold" truth about Tony Romo
Still don't think Romo is the issue in Dallas.
Lack of leadership will do that to a team and it doesn't help they haven't had a real coach since Parcels. Bunch of yes men since then... So Jerry Jones has been the coach imo |
Re: The "Stone Cold" truth about Tony Romo
He just doesn't have the weapons.

Dallas Cowboys' problems. NY Jets' problems.
Hey, I am not complaining about or that much too interested in other teams' business. I am worried, anxious, concerned, can't wait and yet, sit here holding my breath over what is happening and is going to happen in Saints 2013. DCowboys, Austin the Wrestler has said what just about everyone has said here and in the media. Whatever with DCowboys. I pull for the Texans over the DCowboys. The Houston Texans are the Texas NFL football team. I would like Texans to have a good year and a better year over DCowboys. |

I think that Romo is one of the top 10 quarterbacks in this league, but Stone Cold is right. He always chokes when the game is on the line.

"My problem with Dallas is I think Tony Romo is a damn good quarterback, but he (expletives) the bed at the most inopportune times," Austin said
That tells me Romo has the physical requirements.. But cant think through pressure. Which is NOT a damn good QB. |

I think because its all on Romo's shoulders Romo has zero help on the line and I don't see much of a running game either to help him. This is a QB who broke ribs, collar bones and punctured a lung. Romo had 3 weapons... Dez, Witten and they fired last one. We hired him. Romo has 1 enemy.. Jerry Jones |

Re: The "Stone Cold" truth about Tony Romo
I think if you're trying to figure out what's wrong with the Cowboys there are a whole lot of places to look besides Romo. Tony isn't Drew for sure, but he's not whats wrong there. Not even close.

Re: The "Stone Cold" truth about Tony Romo
There's plenty of blame to go around in Dallas. The real question is: Do you consider Romo to be a leader? If he's just now making the commitment to become a better QB by spending more time watching film, then I say "No".

Re: The "Stone Cold" truth about Tony Romo
 ... well, I don't pay that much attention to TB unless he's talking about QBs.
I think what he's getting at with Romo is that coming up through the practice squad and being told to dump the ball in pressure situations for the purpose of the drill created in Romo a "learned response" to those type of situations that he took with him into games when he became the starter. It's why they call 'em 'drills' ... it gets drilled into ya',. |
Re: The "Stone Cold" truth about Tony Romo
Terry Bradshaw's success = The Steel Curtain
History will remember Joe Flacco as being some elite QB too |

I don't think so. Those teams were good, but having Bradshaw made them better. Bradshaw would have been recognized as a great QB regardless of where he played, similiar to the way we view Peyton Manning today. |
