We can't forget that some of these college athletes were only allowed in the school because they can play ball, and they would gladly play for some minor league football team if it was the best route to the NFL. Right now college is pretty much the only way to get there. We're forcing kids to go to college, then we want to punish them for caring more about the sport then their books? Its stupid.

I have a different view. When you have a full ride, caring about the books IS caring about playing the game.

When you have 1 shot to make something of your self, an opportunity to rise above all that life has dealt you and you have to make a 2.0 to get it... They lack focus and are easily distracted.. the entire point behind what the NFL is thinking of doing...

They all have the opportunity to play outside of college football and make it in if they are good enough, that does come with a lower initial paycheck so they are blinded by 6 figures.

But like I said, they were given a full ride for the sole purpose of playing football. The elite don't stay all four years in the 1st place. A good majority of those boys aren't college material in the 1st place. College isn't meant for everybody and isn't important to everybody. I'm sitting here with a degree in radiologic technology and can't find a job. That's the reality. These boys make billions for the NCAA and NFL. Let them play. A lot of the greats already never make it because of their circumstances. Why stack the odds even more and open the door for more corruption?

They woke up one day with an opportunity, and if they are too stupid to recognize they are being afforded an opportunity that is rare by statistical standards, and all they have to do to get it is get by in college. College for them is the lowest workload, least challenging classes, free tutors, and "help" with grades... If they can't get by with all of that then they need to go find something they pays minimum wage.

Why? Because in 20 fkn years they will be whining that the NFL doesn't do enough for broke veterans. If they maintained a 2.0 for three years they would only have one year to be degreed.

Brother.... You of all people should be pushing this. I'll assume you have student loans, those players go on to make at least 450k/year and don't owe a dime for the education they squandered.

I have a good bit of student loans, but the fact that they don't doesn't make me root against them. They had to work for the opportunity to get a full scholarship. If I worked hard enough maybe I would've got one too. For me to be upset would just be a jealous reaction, and I'm not big on jealousy. They weren't given an opportunity, they earned it. They were gifted enough to deserve it. These schools know exactly what they take on with these kids with barely passing GPA's in high school. You know that doesn't translate to college. How can you do college work without the basis of even having the high school skills down pact. High school doesn't even do a good job of preparing you for college or life. Its an all around dumb idea. Just another way to open up the door for more corruption in college football.

As we covered before, I've got 10 years on you. 70% of life is just showing up physically and or mentally. What you will feel will not be jealousy for what they have or don't have, it will be compassionate anger as you recognize another person squandered a gift that would have changed his live and generations of his family's behind him.... For some its to be the first college graduate in the family.


Your lowering the bar with the "college material" prerequisite. I know some idiots with diplomas.

That's the thing. I don't get angry. I understand it happens and everybody isn't going to be perfect. I understand that s*** happens and some people are hard headed. A kid messing up his chances doesn't make me mad or dislike him, it just makes me wish somebody could've kept em on the right path because i know how it is and what most of these kids end up coming back too. All the best players I've played against are back home with me after having a shot at doing it. I'm not mad. Disappointed, but not mad.
