Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
Who did he sign with again?
|
Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
Chicago ...
And he was hyping the game against the Saints ... LMAO |
Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
The guess he's not all that motivated to play the Saints like he was saying. He was suppose to have a big year with them finally going to use him properly.

Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
I thought he already retired few seasons ago?!

Retirement? Maybe he's spent too much time w/ Brian Urlacher.

Sedrick Ellis tells the Bears he’s retiring
Sedrick Ellis tells the Bears he’s retiring | ProFootballTalk
Sedrick Ellis, the defensive tackle who signed with the Bears last month, won’t go to Chicago after all. Ellis did not report to training camp and instead told the Bears he intents to retire from the NFL, the team announced on Thursday. The news comes as a surprise: Ellis is only 28 years old and has no known health concerns. Last year he started all 16 games for the Saints. This year he was scheduled to earn $1 million on a one-year contract. After a college career at USC in which he earned a Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year award and recognition as an All-American, Ellis was the seventh overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft. He played out the full five years of his rookie contract, which was worth more than $30 million. If he has spent his money wisely, he’ll never need to work another day in his life. But it’s surprising, given that he just signed with a new team and still has plenty of good football left in him, that he wants to walk away. |

Burnt Out ?

Re: Sedrick Ellis tells the Bears he’s retiring
Another high pick who didn't live up to his draft status. Boy o boy, I thought this guy would be a force coming out of SC.

Re: Sedrick Ellis tells the Bears he’s retiring
28 yo stops working after 5 years and he "retires"
If I stop after 23 years I'm a bum. |

Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
On the bright side, he should be able to afford another calendar.
|
Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
I have a feeling he made too much money and doesn't feel like working this year for chump change (comparitively). To me, that's just flat out laziness and the reason why he'll go down in history as one of the biggest busts in Saints draft history. Good riddance. I'm glad he retired a Bear.

Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
He will be making a comeback as a 370lb NT next year

Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
Maybe he and Jamarcus Russell can get together.

Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
Wow. Just...well...WOW!
I hope he's not having personal problems that are forcing this decision, because it sure is otherwise odd. |

Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
retire is a formal way of this underachiever saying that he quit. Decent to great players retire, players that never live up to their hype quit after no one wants them
|
Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
hmm Im not shocked he is lazy..... He was another sully !
|
Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
This guy sucked his whole time here. Wish he would have played for the Bears because over him is where we could do some damage. He was F*@&ing the dog here from day one and I am sure he did not want to go anywhere else so everyone could clerarly see what a slob he was.
|
Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
In a way, I can't blame him. He made tons of money, won a Super Bowl, and clearly hasn't had any passion for the game for the past few years. Get out while you're young and still have your health if you're heart isn't in it. Like you guys said, he could get away with it with us but he was gonna have to actually try in Chicago to even make the final roster.

Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
I don't know too many people who can't get out of bed to earn $1million a year. Looks like I can add him to some of my investment banking friends.

He got a Super Bowl ring.
He wasn't going to get another one with Da Bears! |
Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
**** I am much older than 29 & for a million dollars I would be out their humppen my ass off every day.
BUT - I've never made a million & He has made a lot of them so.... |
Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
So the guy doesn't want to play anymore. He made $30 million, he's 28 rich and healthy. Being a pro football player is a lot of work and pain and risk. If he's not into it and thinks he can make a good living else where good for him.
Besides, he sucked at football. |
Re: Sed Ellis Retiring
For the ability to work only 7 months a year, play a game for an occupation, participate in the greatest sport on this planet , I do not need 1 million dollars...
Give me 150k and we can get this party rockin. |
