Is Mark Sanchez being targeted to Fail!
 

We all know that he doesn't need that much help, but after watching the Jets tonight it looks that way.

Geno Smith had 3 INTs and stepped out of the back of the end zone on one possession, but played into the 4th quarter. With less than 12min to play Rex Ryan puts Sanchez in the game with the 3rd string Offense.

Sanchez was 5 of 6, but did have a fumble which the Jets recovered. During his only series for the Jets he was hit twice. The second hit on Sanchez, after his pass, left Sanchez on the turf in pain holding his right shoulder.

Sanchez was seen leaving the field with I've on his right shoulder and was sent for X-rays.

It looked to me that the Jets are looking for anyway to keep Sanchez from playing other than cutting him and Smith isn't exactly winning the QB competition out right.

That's just my opinion. I'm no fan of the Jets or Sanchez, but cut the man if you don't want him.

Nah , I feel rex wanted Sanchez to throw a wrench at Sanchez in a close game against an arch rival , had Sanchez pulled it off and won unharmed , first take would've said what a great tactic for Rex to get marks confidence up and ride that momentum into the opening week. As a kid you always dream of those situations where your backs against the wall in the final moments and you want to find out if you have what it takes to pull it out ... Rex was trying to give Sanchez something to pride himself on ( knowing its been a while since he's had anything to smile about )

I agree that Sanchez doesn't need any help to fail ... he seems to do alright on his own. Geno Smith looked pretty bad in the one Jets preseason game I watched and Sanchez once again is going to be the-lesser-of-the-two-QB-evils in NY, barring injury, IMO. RR is probably just stressing early and wondering how to get through another season ... just another day-at-the-office for the NYJ, :mrgreen:.

Who in the hell puts a starting QB in for the first time in the 4th Qtr of a preseason game?!?!

Well part of it is New York. I used to live there so I know. They just ALWAYS have to have something for people to be angry about in the New York Post on Monday, or for the liberal New York Times to wring their hands and compare it to Greek mythology and the fall of Icarus or something exotic. And if you live in that world of repeated anger and frustration, it has an eerie weird way of perpetuating itself. Much like the early days of the Saints where nothing went right.

I am of the opinion the ownership is pressing to keep Sanchez in, and Rex Ryan is trying to find a way out of it.

Hard to imagine Rex Ryan being that bad of a coach when he went to the AFCCG 2 years in a row. Its the fact Sanchez has regressed so much.

You don't know that. Geno never held a huddle in his entire college career. He has never run an offense, he just ran what he was told.


Cutting his agent immediately after the draft and running out of the endzone shows he is prone to emotional actions... Good NFL QBs are calculating.

Has anyone... anyone, ever seen a starting QB go on the field in pre-season with the second string O-Line to protect him? Its unheard of.

Who cares? Sanchez is garbage. USC QB's are always a bust. They put out busts at a lot of positions lately because they always get overrated. Geno Smith will eventually be the equivalent of Aaron Brooks. McElroy isn't good. Let's not pretend he is. Alabama doesn't produce good QB's either. Game managers at the most.

So why not go with McElroy, the former Alabama guy who appeared in two games last year, including one in which he led the game-winning touchdown drive against Arizona? It doesn’t seem like that much of a gamble. Who knows? He might turn into a pleasant surprise.

But the Jets seem unwilling to consider the possibility, which helps explain why the Jets are the Jets these days.

Of course he's being set up to fail, he's Mark Sanchez. He had one season as the starter at USC and then the Jets believe the hype and trade up to draft him (idiots). Since he plays in New York, he is shoved down everyone throats as the greatest thing since Joe Namath which is a crock. At least Joe had some talent, Sanchez is worse than Ryan Leaf but Rex believes in him so he isn't going anywhere due to his contract. What has he done in the NFL? That defense and run game were the reasons why the Jets got to 2 AFCCG in a row NOT him. Can't wait for the Jets to cut him and have to swallow that cap hit and once again be the worse team in the league

They're bringing in Matt Simms (son of Phil Simms/NYG) for the fourth preseason game ... Sanchez and McElroy are injured, Smith won't play ... the saga continues, it ain't even funny any more ... Graham Harrell could end up being their guy.

Rex Ryan is done, and so is Sanchez. Payton Manning, Drew Brees and Tom Brady didn't leave school early. Why should you, your not better them.

Sanchez was not ready. He just might never be.

they already only have one team the Jets and Giants play in New Jersey The only team New York really has is Buffalo
