It was the right thing. Midway through the season, at 6-3, his team realistically should of been 7-2/8-1 and they should have walked away with that Division with key injuries to Green Bay (Rodgers), Chicago (Cutler) and Minnesota's problems finding a QB. Instead, he goes 1-6 the last 7 games and finishes below .500/third in the Division in spite of the fact he STILL could have squeaked it out with just one win in WK 17. That's failure on an epic level and he had to get the boot in order for the Ford family to save any kind of face around metro Detroit.

He had his chances, had his successes and he's a nice enough guy, but the Lions were anticipating hosting a playoff game and he blew it. It was going to be one of the best weeks in Detroit sports history as we were also hosting the NHL's Winter Classic & Winter Classic Alumni games and it's also the week of the annual WinterFest that began with the hosting of the SuperBowl a few years back ... and "no", I'm not bitter about the whole thing, .
