League says Lynch didn’t “win” his appeal
Marshawn Lynch claims he won the appeal of his $50,000 fine for not talking to the media. The league says that’s not the case.
Per NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy, league executive V.P. of football operations Ray Anderson decided to delay collection of the $50,000 in exchange for Lynch’s commitment to comply with the league’s policy regarding media availability. Any further violation by Lynch will result in the NFL taking the $50,000 and imposing another $50,000 fine. So, basically, if Lynch deliberately disregards one more time a fair and reasonable policy aimed at ensuring players are available to reporters — who serve as the official liaisons to the fans — then Lynch will lose $100,000. And then the fans, who are the intended beneficiaries of the league’s media policies, can try to offset the six-figure fine by raising money for a guy who made $7 million in salary this season. He didn't 'win' but doesn't have to pay? I think that's called a win.
Lose the court case but pay zero in damages, same thing. |
Re: League says Lynch didn’t “win” his appeal
That's Goodell for ya, take a cheap shot on a punter, break his chin and a vertebra in his neck and the league fine's you $25K.
Don't talk to the media and get you get fined 50 grand. Goodell's an idiot. |
Re: League says Lynch didn’t “win” his appeal
I actually think he should have been suspended way back. Doing those interviews are in his contract hence a part of his job. He clearley refused to do his job. If you or I refused to do our job our bosses would fire us. Lynch should atleast have been suspended.

IIRC all of these rules and fines and penalties were negotiated and approved by the players.
Don't blame Goodell for rules the players agreed to. |

Its like our Bounty deal. We were busted and told to quit, no damage done. We did it again and got the book thrown at us. |

B1tchmode associates an appeal as that which covers a banana.
Wouldn't know if he won or lost one. |

Revisiting now since Lynch is again pulling his Ricky W routine.
Why isn't he being fined, Roger? Why is this team the NFL's f**ing darlings when all they do is break the rules? |
Re: League says Lynch didn’t “win” his appeal
Another Duane Thomas, although Thomas had an answer to the "How does it feel to play in the ultimate game?" " If it's the ultimate, why do they play it next year?" Good Point!
