Doug Baldwin to Cris Carter: Your analytical skills aren’t up to par yet

After the NFC Championship Game, Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin took issue with the fact that ESPN analyst and Hall of Famer Cris Carter called Seattle’s receiver group “appetizers” because they were lacking a main course.

The two weeks between that game and the Super Bowl didn’t do much to diminish the slight that Baldwin felt and he again aired his grievances with Carter in the wake of the 43-8 victory. Baldwin had five catches for 66 yards and a touchdown, helping him to a Super Bowl ring that he says he’s happy to show off to the ringless Carter.

“For all y’all who called us, the receiving corps, average, pedestrian, appetizers—I’m not going to say any names, but he knows who he is—I respect what you did on the field, but stick to playing football, because your analytical skills ain’t up to par yet. You need to slow down and go back and not do it half-assed and put some effort into it, because you’re saying some stuff that didn’t really make sense,” Baldwin said, via John Boyle of the Everett Herald. “That dude who said that we were appetizers, he told me to Google him, and I did Google him, but I didn’t see any Super Bowl appearances, and I also saw two losses in conference championships. I have a Super Bowl ring, and I would gladly show that to him. And if he doesn’t have time to come see it, tell him he can Google it.”

I think Carter sucks and is ignorant but he wasn't necessarily wrong when stating they don't have a "main course". I do understand Baldwin feeling slighted though... any man with self and team pride would.

At the end of the day, Baldwin will always have a Super Bowl ring in his trophy case and Carter does not. Cris, enjoy your Hall of Fame bust out in Canton but at least give these guys from Seattle a bit more credit.

More immature chest pounding smack talk.

I'm getting sick and tired of this crap. Its why I stopped watching the NBA and I fear its gonna be why the NFL starts losing fans.

The majority of the smack talk is Seattle players.

As rigged as the NBA has been the past years, hoping it aint a sign to come in the NFL, especially how fixed this season has been to allow that very team to win a SB.

NBA has been rigged a lot longer than just recently. I saw it constantly with the 80's Celtics and Lakers. They were able to get calls other teams never did, and even ex-players would comment that certain players were allowed and others weren't.

My final straw came when Shaq was able to assault Portland's Arvydas Sabonis on both ends of the floor in the playoffs and Sabonis couldn't even breath on Shaq with getting a foul. I swore I'd never watch another NBA game again and I haven't.

The NFL has a long way to go to reach that level, but I have no doubt they're heading in that direction

I dunno...
They won the Super Bowl.
CC needs to stop hating and give credit where it is due.

I usually don't like players with the "look at me" attitude.

But I don't think that's case here. Carter called them out and was a little insulting about it. It would be hard to take "appitizers" any other way. He was proven wrong. So now it's time for him to eat a little crow.
