. 8. Roger Goodell’s salary

The commissioner of the mighty National Football League made $44 million last year in salary, bonus and compensation. Before, I come across as some Wall Street occupier rallying against the one-percenters, let me just say, “Congratulations Roger!” $44 million for what you’ve done is quite a haul, and you should be commended.

With that out of the way, let me turn to the owners who paid that salary, and can I ask, “Are you people nuts?” You had to lock out the players less than two years ago, Goodell completely bungled the “Bounty-Gate” fiasco (that is an article for another day), you held the Super Bowl in New York City and it took an act of God to prevent it from being a complete disaster, attendance is down across the entire league (more on that in a minute), you’ve done nothing to address your growing PED and player safety problems. Oh, I’m not done, you’re playing games in places like Toronto and London where nobody cares, and former players are suing you left and right. Hey owners, if you need someone to screw things up this badly, I am available, and you only have to pay me $5-10 million

Great article. Especially the points about steroids and PED abuse, which is becoming incredibly obvious to any casual observer giving the sport the "eyeball test" on Sundays, and then paying attention to how it's glossed over and hushed up by the league and in the media.
