Re: Tony Gonzales Released
Sounds like a bit of a falling out
ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk 2m Tony Gonzalez forced Falcons' hand by not filing retirement papers; if not cut by Wednesday, substantial bonus due Gonzalez forced Falcons’ hand by not filing retirement papers | ProFootballTalk I wonder if he is leaving the possibility to come back as the falcons do not own his rights now |
Re: Tony Gonzales Released

I am not saying the guy has a bad work ethic, not at all, actually, but he did negotiate out of OTA's and part of training camp the past two years. Seems like he wants to play, but not practice. With his skill set and age, I don't have a problem with that. He'll sign with a contender mid-season |
Re: Tony Gonzales Released
Maybe bsck with the Chiefs.
They need a TE, as do the Packers if Finley walks. I have nothing but respect for the man. |
Re: Tony Gonzales Released
Unless he just wants to be able to sign a one day contract with Kansas City so that he can retire a Chief. But then this doesn't sound like it's as simple as that. So who knows. He's certainly not someone I would fear at this point, so wherever he goes really doesn't matter to me. If he in fact plays again.

I'm saying rather than just retire, perhaps he is forcing the Falcons to release him so that he can sign with the Chiefs for a day and retire as a Chief. But you'd think that would be a simple request he could make, so given the fact that they're making it out to be kind of an ugly situation, it makes you wonder if he isn't really wanting to play elsewhere. It's not a big deal to me either way. |
Re: Tony Gonzales Released
He forced the front office's hand.
