Former NFL RB Thomas dies at 41
Former NFL running back Rodney Thomas died on Saturday. He was 41.
Thomas died in his hometown of Groveton, Texas, at about 7 p.m. Saturday, according to Trinity County Justice of the Peace Rod Blair. The cause of death will not be determined until an autopsy is completed. Thomas was a third-round draft choice of the Houston Oilers in 1995 out of Texas A&M. He rushed for 947 yards with five touchdowns his rookie season. Thomas stayed with the franchise when it moved to Tennessee and became the Titans. He played in Super Bowl XXXIV against the St. Louis Rams. He retired in 2001 after spending one season with the Atlanta Falcons. For his NFL career, Thomas ran for 1,973 yards. At Texas A&M, he compiled 3,014 rushing yards with 41 touchdowns. He is fifth on the school's all-time list in rushing yards. read more |
