Rams cut the gay guy
The Rams have cut the gay guy. ESPN in meltdown
|
Re: Rams cut the gay guy
With a meaningful thread like this; seems like ESPN isn't the only one in meltdown mode

Re: Rams cut the gay guy
They didn't cut him because he was gay. They cut him because they were already set on the line and he is basically a one trick pony. St L didn't need one.

Re: Rams cut the gay guy
Sam is a casualty of the numbers game; STL is loaded at D-line. He did play pretty well in the preseason, but it wasn't like he was facing the 1's or much of the 2's, for that matter. I believe he should get a shot at another roster that doesn't have the depth or talent on the D-line that STL has. It ain't us...we have plenty of D-line depth and talent. He should be getting a call from Jerry Jones shortly. That Dallas D is putrid, and that D-Line ain't nothing to brag about. Plus nobody likes a media circus like Mr. Jones.
However, some will conclude it was simply because he is an openly gay man. Sad. You know this is inevitable. Hopefully Sam has the dignity and grace not to make this claim himself. But some talking head will claim this as a fact. I feel a big, gigantic wave of backlash coming soon from a news media outlet near you. Help us all... |
Re: Rams cut the gay guy
I hear San Francisco is interested. Not the team, the city.

Re: Rams cut the gay guy
Apparently some didn't catch my sarcasm. Every story we heard about Sam mentioned him being gay ad nuseum, espn was obsessed by it. I was taking a shot at the medias obsession with him being gay.
For the record I couldn't give a shat less about his gayness. I even received a breaking news update on my phone that the gay dude got cut. Seriously? |
Re: Rams cut the gay guy
Yeah pretty ridiculous ... He was a 7th round pick... He was a long shot to make the roster anyway .... So what he gay ? He gets judged on his football skills n the nfl not his sexual preference ... Bye Felicia

Re: Rams cut the gay guy

Rams cut the gay guy
As I read down the comments I was fairly shocked by some of the defensive comments.
If ESPN, the NFL, and Opera can headline 'gay guy drafted', how does that differ from Danno's 'gay guy cut' headline. For the record I am defending the NFL, ESPN, and Opera. Danno is just a copycat. On Barry from MS comment - I don't think any aversion by franchises to Sam is because he is gay. A lot of teams do not care for a player that is more distraction than talent. He is a defensive version of Manziel. I stand by be original statement from the day he came out. His sexual orientation is moot, had he gone through this on the pure merit of his talent he would have had a a much fairer evaluation. |
Re: Rams cut the gay guy
My comments on previous threads were sarcastic as well. Some can't handle it I guess.
I'm tired of all the social prefixes and the people who buy into it all. Gay, Black, whatever..... Seems we have let others dictate for us what we should think and feel about people. |

I'm not going to tell you how you must feel about the depth of irony involved in telling someone how they should feel about someone else's feelings. :P |
Re: Rams cut the gay guy
That's too bad.
It's not over for him though, someone else might pick him up. He still might live his dream of rushing into Colin Kaepernick's backfield. |
Re: Rams cut the gay guy
He still holds the position of Wide Receiver for life.

I honestly don't feel any NFL team will pass on a man that can contribute to their pass-rush and make plays on defense. Maybe it's me being naive, but the bottom line of NFL teams is to win NFL games regardless of the sexual orientation of any of their players. If a hunter-orange transsexual man with brown polka dots and 2 husbands can help win NFL football games, I highly doubt a team would pass on this NFL-caliber football player. |
Re: Rams cut the gay guy
He looks like he can be a good player.

Re: Rams cut the gay guy
Never fear. There are still 1,643 gay players left in the NFL. That would be anyone not playing for the Saints. :p

Precisely my point... :) They would not pass on a talent that would make them a better team because of his sexuality, but an overwhelming majority would pass on a A&M QB loaded with drama and questionable character. Hunter-orange tranny gets the jersey over Chad Ocho-Cinco by at least 2/3 of the league. Now how it's framed by the public is an entirely different discussion. |

A&M Offense + Johnny Manziel = 1989 U. of Houston offense + Andre Ware A&M Offense + Kenny Hill = 1990 U. of Houston offense + David Klingler The current A&M offense has become the equivalent of the U. of Houston's offense in the late 80's/early 90's. This should keep our fan base sourly against wanting to pick up Johnny Whatever later down the road and for wanting to draft Kenny Hill when that inevitable question pops in a year or 2. Wow...complete tangent...not erasing it; can't erase that true brilliance of mine  And I am so glad we "came out" amicably on our Sam discussion. If he keeps working hard to get better, he can definitely be a solid option on someone's defensive line in a year. If we weren't so deep a defensive line, I wouldn't might at all giving him a shot here to give us quality d-line depth. |

Iva different take on Manziel. He isn't a product of a system as much as their system was a product of his God given ability to be dynamic and a fraction of a second faster than those going after him. Much like Jamarcus Russell, Johnny Manziel is not a product of work ethic, leadership, or staying after practice and get it right. Johnny lost his speed advantage and never worked on being well rounded.
He has time but it's fading fast. |

And with that... 500! Took 7 years...reckon I do type that slow, plus I have a slow, bad brain. Here's to another 500 posts of idiocy and incoherent droolings. :chug: |

Re: Rams cut the gay guy
I nailed that one. Dallas' defense is appallingly terrible, and Sam can be a play maker on that D-line some time in the future once he figures out the defensive scheme there. Their scheme seems to be give up a bunch of yards and a bunch of points per game, but I reckon they're sticking with what they know.
Hope Sam the best. And to those of you wishing to hear nothing from this dude ever again because he got cut in STL are in for more angst if he gets on that Dallas PS. If you've been exposed to ESPN or NFL Network within the past decade, you know how much they love, love, love covering them some Cowboys or all things NFC East/AFC East. |
