Ndamukong Suh wins appeal, will play vs. Cowboys
So much for player safety!! Imagine what the league would have done to the Saints if the bounty crap had come out in '09!
Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is not suspended from Sunday’s playoff game after all. Suh has won the appeal of his one-game suspension and will play on Sunday at Dallas. Instead of getting suspended, Suh will be fined $70,000. That’s actually a more harsh financial penalty than a suspension would have been, as players on wild card teams are paid $22,000 for their first playoff game. Suh was suspended for stepping on the leg of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, in a move that some saw as intentional and others saw as accidental. Ted Cottrell, the former NFL player and coach who heard the appeal, apparently felt that some discipline was warranted, but that a suspension was too much. As we noted yesterday, Suh always had a good case for an appeal: There was really no way to know for sure whether Suh meant to step on Rodgers (unlike Suh’s infamous stomp on Green Bay’s Evan Dietrich-Smith, which was obviously intentional), and Cottrell has a reputation for fairness in appeals hearings. And so Suh can play. Good news for the Lions, bad news for the Cowboys. Ndamukong Suh wins appeal, will play vs. Cowboys | ProFootballTalk |
Re: Ndamukong Suh wins appeal, will play vs. Cowboys
This kinda' irks me in that it says the NFL will make an exception for certain level players and certain level games.
Had this been Wk #3 and the Lions next opponent the NYJ, that suspension would have held up. Way to send a message, ... oh well, that Dallas O/L is gonna' truck him anyway,. |
Re: Ndamukong Suh wins appeal, will play vs. Cowboys
Doesn't surprise me at all. I was actually surprised they suspended him in the first place.
Don't get me wrong, I think they should have and I totally agreed with it, I was just surprised they did. |

I'm gonna' give 'em a little credit, but not that much. Teams with good running games have no problem getting their yardage on the Lions, :neutral. I just hope they're gonna' have foot warmers on the sidelines so Ndramakong doesn't step on anymore calves,. |

It's the dumb excuses afterwards that just insult my intelligence, particularly with Suh (who's done it a few times), and boggle my mind. I mean, we're dealing with grown men here (allegedly) .... professionals in their craft (allegedly),. Raiola did the same thing the week before, what is it with these guys? . How 'bout, "I accidently stepped on the guy" or something halfway credible ... a 7th grader could come up with something more believable than "My feet were numb". That's the respect the arrogant ass has for the fans, the game, his teammates, his profession and himself ... "My feet were numb", I'll be glad when he's gone because I'm tired of having him associated with Detroit & the Lions. |
