RIP - Stuart Scott

Stuart Scott dies at age of 49

ESPN: The Worldwide Leader In Sports

"He didn't just push the envelope," says sports radio host and former ESPN anchor Dan Patrick. "He bulldozed it."

And he saved his best for his last year on the air. At the ESPYS on July 16, shortly before his 49th birthday and following another round of cancer surgery, Stuart accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance with strength, humor, grace and these eloquent words: "When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live."

No way man. He used to be my favorite on ESpN when I was young.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Scott. He was way too young, but this MAN was graceful and strong in the face of this disease's certain death.

Such a talent, such love for the job he did, and such enthusiasm for just sports in general. He will be missed by me & millions of others.

One day soon, cancer will be like smallpox or the flu. I just wish it was today. I'll miss Stuart Scott.

Re: RIP - Stuart Scott

I was watching the NFL Network when Richie E told us about SS.
Richie choked up and trembled the news.

I am grateful these displays of emotion are not censored. Richie asked for prayers and tonight I will do as a man in deep pain suggested. (loss at correct verbiage to say that I will add SS to prayers because Richie asked)

I didn't know he was sick and before today; I never paid attention to his name. I knew the face and now I understand the loss.

Thank you for posting. I missed the part when Richie told us, the fans, he just found out and the news was fresh. Ten minutes after he was told, Richie stopped the broadcast because he had something to say. The other talking heads looked confused.

God bless Richie and thank the Lord he did not consider "Political Correctness" when words came from the heart.

So sad about this. Really enjoyed him on air and he just nailed his speech at the ESPY's in 2014. RIP Stu, prayers for your daughters.

What a great man in real life, and his dynamic style of commentary will never be replicated. One of the best and most entertaining broadcasters of all time. Like Ernie Harwell and Chick Hearn he had all the awesome metaphors and phrases.
