Re: "New" Clev. Browns Logos
Thank god! I was afraid that they would N*ke it up!

Re: "New" Clev. Browns Logos
Cleveland is one of those teams where the orange in their helmets looks COMPLETELY different in person, than it does on TV. It's already obnoxiously bright in person. This will be interesting.
I liked the old school thin lettering with the shading around the edges better, like a 50s/early '60s football look, but that's just me. |
Re: "New" Clev. Browns Logos
Wow the brighter orange should do it, what were they thinking before.

Re: "New" Clev. Browns Logos
You know, they had a perfect opportunity to just start all over, but they went back to being the Browns anyway in 1999. I'm sure Paul Brown was awesome, but that legacy died a) when he left to start a different team, and b) when the old team moved to Baltimore.

Re: "New" Clev. Browns Logos
I've never thought about them the same since the whole Browns/Ravens, Cleveland/Baltimore fiasco, ... was glad Cleveland and the fans stood up to retain the team name, history/records, et ... That is one of the things I hated about the Colts moving, the Rams relocating, the Cardinals, yada, yada, yada ... they take too much with them, IMO ... did kinda' give me more respect for your average Browns-Backer even if their team is usually pretty bad, :).

Re: "New" Clev. Browns Logos
I would not be at all surpised if the brighter orange color came out of some kind of focus group or market testing. Remember "old Coke" and "New" Coke, LOL? In the '80s, they changed the formula of Coca-Cola, it was more sweet. It was a huge marketing and promotions fiasco.
The reason was because they did blind taste tests between soda A and soda B, and people picked the sweeter one far more often. But that doesn't mean they actually like a full can of the sweeter one better! The same way that if you play short clips of music for people, to compare the audio, they will generally say that the one that is LOUDER and has more treble, sounds "better" to them, even though it maybe actually doesn't sound better. But the brain hears it as more exiting, compared to the other one. I would not be surprised if this new hideous orange color came from people being asked to compare swatches of colors side by side, and pick the one they like the best. As far as changes to football uniforms go, it seems kinda arbitrary and made-up. |
Re: "New" Clev. Browns Logos
