What does it say about my faith in the justice system when I am actually surprised they got a guilty verdict?

I hope the victim's family gets some closure and I feel bad for Hernandez's mother.

Now let's see if he gets convicted on the other shootings he's charged with.

Considering the cesspool of politicians that reside around there, I'd guess they're one of those pansy states that don't allow it.

Some times I think that is a harsher punishment than a swift death.

And Mitch, I will never understand these kinds of people who have it all and throw it all away.

All I can think is that the guy had eased out stuff so many times, he thought he was invincible. He really thought this would be a cake walk too.

Well, he's a big guy and a thug, and has the street cred, so it'd probably be he'll have his *******.

Re: Hernandez Guilty.

Well, he (Hernandez) seemed pretty calm about the whole thing ... maybe he's got Johnnie Cochran coming in for the appeal? If I understand the case correctly, AH (allegedly) murdered this Odin guy because he was going to turn him in for another murder? And then they interviewed the jury immediately after the verdict? I'd just be careful about identifying myself if I was involved, given Hernandez's history and all ... just sayin',.

Just what the NFL needs, more character issues,.

Hernandez will be fine in jail by the standards of being okay in prison. He put in work as they say. He's a Blood, so that'll give him added protection. Plus he's obviously no nonsense judging by the way he just shoots whoever pisses him off. He's the kind of guy everybody pictures when they think of the hood because they don't live there. But dudes like this aren't common. This guy is a real life savage.

Welp...

I think he gets an automatic appeal.

And after all, it is never too late for the Chewbacca defense:

He gets an automatic appeal. Youth is wasted on the young. What so cool about jail anyway. Or being a thug.

Or he's one of those gifted athlete-types that has been given a pass for most his life, found it glamorous to project that pseudo-gangsta image and attracted the wrong crowd who gravitated towards him & allowed him in their circles for the fame/money/lifestyle he generated, #shrug ... but I will admit, for all the wanna-be's in the NFL (the rap community and society in general) that like to project that image, he's at least wacking dudes and doing his best to live up to it, ... he does seem to have that "cold-hearted killer" aura about him.

He won't be in general population because of his celebrity and there's been a few articles out about how his days will go ... 19hrs in a cell, only 1hr outside, et ... it ain't gonna' be like Burt Reynolds/Adam Sandler in the Longest Yard, that's for sure,.

I better not start seeing all the little hoodlums in the neighborhood sporting #81 Patriot jerseys either ... society has to stop glamourizing/admiring these type of guys, IMO.

In reality, "the hood" is just a subjective term. Everybody has a way of describing certain neighborhoods. In places where there is a reputation for drug dealing and violence, that's what people call the hood. It's a reputation that is earned through the actions of these people. You don't have to live in that type of place to understand it. It's not a secretive thing.

That doesn't mean every single person in a bad neighborhood is a gangster, but the facts still remain. A bad neighborhood is a bad neighborhood.

But why does this matter in the subject of one man? He's a murderer. Does it matter how common it is? It's become all too common, but one is already too many.

That's kinda' my point with Hernandez and his gang affiliation. Anyone can get a tattoo, the guy grew up in Bristol, Connecticut for crissake ... 87% white population with a median income of approx. $58,000.00 ... hardly a hotbed of gang activity ... when did they find the time to jump him in? In between classes at Bristol High School? Or did they do it during his college football days? He was just allowed to run in certain circles because of his celebrity, IMO, and reveled in the notoriety/reputation of being a "gangsta" like many of his peers. He just had the nuts to pull the trigger a few times.

It's a façade perpetrated by many in the rap and athletic communities and while may be considered "cool", is just counter-productive, IMO. Why can't these guys grow up saying, "I grew up in a decent neighborhood, halfway stable home/environment, went to school, applied myself, got an education, a job or professional career and am proud to be a productive member of society" rather than all the smoke-n-mirrors?

Instead, it's more hip to try and be a gangbanger or Tupac,. That's what the kids aspire too. And then we wonder why we got 9 year olds getting arrested for home invasions, shootings and the like ... it's because they're trying to be "cool" like their heroes they see in the news/media,.

Consider that amongst all the real hippies that massed around Haight Asbury in the 60's, plenty of them, in fact in the beginning, probably the majority of them, were from upscale families or medium income families - kids that dropped in from Marin county or took their "vacation" to pretend to be part of that culture for a while.

So I don't think it strange or unique to kids of the last few decades to be faux gangsters. Of course the big difference is sometimes they really eff up and do something amazingly stupid. It happened then too, only more often than not they destroyed themselves with drugs and not other people with guns.
