Study shows Pats using deflated balls since 2007
Didn't see this posted yet. Pretty damn incriminating.
Stats show the New England Patriots became nearly fumble-proof after a 2006 rule change pushed by Tom Brady. Once again, a key takeaway is deadly obvious: Prior to 2007 the Patriots were right in line with the league averages across the other nondome teams. When you look team by team, they literally are in the middle of the pack for most seasons. But starting in 2007, all similarities totally vanish. |
Re: Studay shows Pats using deflated balls since 2007
Well what in the hell has the NFL been doing since 2007?? If they measure the PSI during the course of every game since then, this would've popped up sooner. Not only did the NFL not do anything since they knew about it in week like 6 of last year, they didn't try to stop it then. I don't understand how this is incriminating. The NFL let them do it, didn't warn them, now people want to see them punished? For what a ball deflated by >1 PSI of regulation? If deflating a football could have you beat your division, beat a team 45-7 and then beat the Seahawks, I think a lot more teams would've done it sooner. Give me a break.

What? Records only go back as far as 2007?

Oh the plot thickens.
Will this be much to do about nothing or some penalty there for TommyB, NEPats, or do we even dare say, His Lordship of the NFL, Goodelly . |
Re: Studay shows Pats using deflated balls since 2007
If it leads to a better football team, I say let each team control the inflation of the balls they want to use. If the Pats were smart enough to play better football with a less hard ball, than I applause them and wish we were that smart. Now that the league has woken up, I say let each team control the damn ball they want to use.

Re: Studay shows Pats using deflated balls since 2007
My guess is NE's fumble stats come back into line with the rest of the league. Now that they're being closely monitored. And if it doesn't - then I (and the article) are wrong.
But if it does - there's the smoking gun. |
