The Texans and Pierre Thomas weren’t able to come to terms on a contract after a Wednesday visit and coach Bill O’Brien said, via ESPN.com, the team is looking for “someone that can do a little bit of everything” to help fill in for Foster. Alfred Blue, Chris Polk, Jonathan Grimes and Kenny Hilliard are the in-house options.

The Falcons have two RB's with hamstring injuries. That just might happen. Joe Horn, Ambrose and the other DB's we seemed to trade back and forth didn't bother me. Andersen being there was awful, and this would be hard to stomach as well.

Yeah, especially since Joique Bell (knee/Achilles) started training camp on the PUP ... a few games into the season it's probably something they're gonna' wish they'd done or at least considered. :neutral:.

I think Pierre is kinda where Jabari Greer was at, when he retired. They are both strong character guys, who really go about handling things the right way, with class. On one hand, Greer wanted to keep playing, maybe a year or two more, he felt he could still do it -- but he wasn't gonna be the guy who grovels or hangs around at league minimum, just trying to latch on with some team, to desperately stay in a locker room.... The player loves the game, loves the locker room, but he also realizes, there is more to life....

When you get to that age, it takes a LOT of effort to stay in game shape, a lot of hard work, and although of course the money is nice, it's not really about the money -- it's about being a player and taking pride in your work and your contribution on the field, it's about being valued by the team. This was precisely what went on with Greer. He wasn't gonna go somewhere for league minimum, or make a fool of himself trying to get with any team under the sun that would have him try out; likewise Pierre is not gonna go play for the Ottowa Redbacks or an arena team, because he's already fulfilled all his dreams and goals, for the most part.

Like Greer, Pierre has a ring, some good money, and a body of work -- he has a great career full of highlights to look back on. He's not desperate. He really doesn't need anything from anybody. He's not gonna cry into his pillow, if no team picks him up. He can go out with his head held high.

I'm guessing the Texans probably wanted somebody to just be spare parts until Foster gets well, and I have a feeling Pierre doesn't want to go out like that. It probably wasn't about the money, it was probably about, security, about respect, and is it really "worth it" to Pierre at this point in his life.

They have Abdullah. They need to quit the RBBC as it is not gonna help Abdullah's case at all as he's not used to that role

We could pull him back into the organization. We've done it before and could do it again.

I do think in time, Pierre will land some where. Guys are going down (injury) far too often in camp.
