RGIII's Contract May Be The Biggest Blunder In NFL History

Interesting article from CNN Money section, about the RGIII saga....they really screwed the pooch on this one. It's like the movie War Games, "the only way to win, is not to play." The Redskins gave up all those picks and money to get him, and now the best option available for them is to bench him or even cut him outright. Ouch.

Redskins' RG3 contract may be biggest blunder in NFL history - Sep. 1, 2015

Best thing that could come out of this; ESPN commercial of Dan Snyder covering Cher's Turn Back Time. Ditka applauding in the audience.

Another example of why you should never, ever draft a QB that won the Heisman.

Dude was incredible in his rookie year. Torched the Saints in the opener. No offense to Bradford or Tebow, but I think he would BLOW UP again with Chip Kelly.

For me it's still Vick, because MV was committing felonies long before the deal, and Blank didn't bother spending the $50K on a PI to do a background check.
They paid him 60 million or so for two years of play, and basically were in purgatory for two years after that

My vote goes to Albert Haynesworth that deal makes RG3 look like a Piker.

He has performed just as well as I expected after seeing him at Baylor. He is a very flawed QB that doesn't do well in the pocket under center.

Bigger than JaMarcus Russell?

No QB is bigger that JaMarcus Walrussel. Well maybe Jared Lorenzen...

JaMarcus Russell flat out hustled the NFL. It was so bad they had to change the rules. This part was actually really smart on Russell. The part that was not; blowing the money and then trying to rejoin the company you just swindled LOL! If he would have taken the money, made smart investments he could have retired before the age of 25 with a healthy body and brain.

While there is always personal responsibility first, JaMarcus went to a TRAINWRECK of an organization. I mean, would Brady be a Super Bowl champ if he went to the Lions? Very doubtful.

Probably not, but then you also gotta' figure the Lions wouldn't of been the trainwreck of an organization with Brady that Oakland was with Russell either, #shrug.

How close did we really come?

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said on May 8, 2010 that the time was not right for the Saints to consider signing Louisiana-native Russell, but added in that it's "newsworthy" when a high draft pick is released so soon, and stated that players like Russell often get a second chance in the NFL.[32] However, due in part to concerns about his work ethic, he has never played another down in an NFL game.[33]

Recently released (OAK) Trent Richardson is another one, 4yrs/$20mil(guaranteed) + $13mil signing bonus with the Browns in 2012. Not bad scratch if you can get it, ;).

Also consider RGIII's character.
Could the tarnish on Shanahan become a footnote rather than bullet point?

He's got good character, right? I always thought so but I don't see that many endearing posts about him around here so maybe I'm missing something? Does he got a rap sheet?.
