Philadelphia Eagles let go of Chip Kelly
 

The Philadelphia Eagles didn't wait for Monday to make the first stunning coaching move of the offseason. Head coach Chip Kelly has been fired.

"We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward," Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement.

Pat Shurmur will be interim head coach for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.

Ed Marynowitz, Vice President of Player Personnel, also was released by the Eagles.

A news conference with Lurie will be held Wednesday, December 30 in the auditorium of the NovaCare Complex at 12:00 p.m. ET. Media will be permitted into the building at 10:30 a.m.

Early reports have Chip possibly landing back in the college ranks, the Whiners, the Saints (really? I'm not buying, :neutral:), Cleveland, Miami and Tennessee ... please not Detroit, please not Detroit, please not Detroit, :lol:.

I think it'd be pretty cool to see him with the 49ers; with Kaepernicks mobility and all.

But no way in hell would I ever give him the kind of personnel power he had in Philly... :rolleyes:

For the record, I think moving forward he (Chip) has indicated he's willing to give up the personnel/GM portion of the job. Probably for the best if he wants to find employment in the near future, :neutral:.

He'll go back to college now that his "statute of limitations" has elapsed

I think he might go back to the college ranks but he'll be back in the NFL eventually with much better results.
