Black Monday / Sunday
All the rumours starting on sackings
49ers sacking Tomsula, tell you what if he would take a positional role again id have him come it to get that defensive line sorted asap. I'd also offer somebody like Mike Singletary the job of LB coach. He wants to coach again and i dont see him getting s good HC position. Let him come in a rebuild his status. I dont see coach sacking any of the gang though sadly. Others who will be gone Browns - Pettine- Farmer Colts - Pagano Giants - Coughlin |

Re: Black Monday
Mike Pettine is the real deal on defense. I don't think he will be on the street very long.

if sp did leave i wouldt mind coghlin

Re: Black Monday
I don't see SP leaving. Trying to weigh the pros of it for him and I don't see it unless Benson wants him gone which I also don't see. Getting rid of the best thing that ever happened to the Saints, sure it's rocky right now but rocky was par for the course for a mighty long time.

Re: Black Monday
I don't know, some times rocky was a step in a positive direction

Re: Black Monday / Sunday
How about Johnny Manziel. Does anyone think he'll get cut.
|
Re: Black Monday / Sunday
I think Manziel is TRYING. To get himself cut. I would like Pettine as DC.

Re: Black Monday / Sunday
Pagano has seriously hurt his reputation. That team has been stuck in neutral for a while, and as soon as Luck gets hurt, they totally sucked. And Luck is not elite, yet. He is a turnover machine. So to see that team take that kind of dive without a QB who was already hot and cold... Not good.
But worse then the record is the fact that he's a defensive guy, and he never put together a good defense in Indy. I'm not sure he ever had a decent one. He was just lucky to coach in a horrific division. I don't see anyone that has been cut loose, so far, that interests me as a coordinator or HC, if Payton leaves. I agree with the OP about maybe bringing in Tomsula to coach the defensive line, but that's about it. I also agree that if Payton stays it's unlikely he'll replace Bill Johnson. Bill and Joe Vitt are apparently invincible. |

Pettine as DC would be good as long as he could pick his staff.

Re: Black Monday / Sunday
Man, Pettine has an impressive resume'(LB and DL coach for that stout Ravens D stood out to me). I'd love for this guy to be our next DC. Id like to still keep Allen as an assistant... he seems to know how to relate to the players and is detail oriented. If we want to have a good D,it starts with a good DC. We have talent, and I think this guy would make some grown a$$ men out of our players.

Re: Black Monday / Sunday
Wow, I don't know what the end game or his next destination might be, but I'm kind of relieved that Lovie is out at Tampa Bay. I guess he was just a really solid defensive minded coach, but for whatever reason, Lovie Smith was a guy who had Sean Payton's number, and rang his bell quite a few times over the years. That Bears game in '06, definitely traumatized me for life. As far as coaches go, Lovie actually has one of the better, more successful personal coaching records when playing head-to-head against Sean Payton-led teams, I'm glad to see him out of the division. I'm very surprised by that move.
