PFF: Malcolm Jenkins NFL's best safety
PFF names Malcolm Jenkins as the NFL's best safety in 2015 - Bleeding Green Nation
Jenkins finished the season with the highest PFF grade of any safety. Minnesota's Harrison Smith, Miami's Reshad Jones, Kansas City's Eric Berry, and Seattle's Earl Thomas rounded out the top five, in order. The 28-year-old Jenkins finished the 2015 season with 89 tackles, two interceptions, one defensive touchdown, 10 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. Jenkins' value goes beyond his stats. His versatility makes him incredibly useful. Nearly 30% of Jenkins' snaps came while playing as the team's nickel cornerback. According to PFF, Jenkins finished second in yards per coverage snap in the slot, giving up just 0.78 yards per rep. As if that wasn't impressive enough, Jenkins also finished fourth in the team in special teams tackles with five. He does it all. |

Coaching?
Side note - good for Malcolm... he put in work to get better at his craft. |
Re: PFF: Malcolm Jenkins NFL's best safety
Our defense immediately regressed as soon as we released both Malcolm Jenkins and Roman Harper.
They thrived in our 3 safety set. We went from #2 in pass defense in 2013, to near last in the seasons since. |

Re: PFF: Malcolm Jenkins NFL's best safety
He wasn't doing that here so good for him. A change of scenery was obviously great for him to take it to the next level. He was solid here but not great. Maybe we just suck at coaching on defense

Can we get him back. Good for Malcolm.

Re: PFF: Malcolm Jenkins NFL's best safety
Best safety? That's pretty funny. How many times does he get burned deep? That was his problem here. He got his tackles, he made some plays, but you could always count on him to miss his assignments in coverage.
If he's gotten any better, good for him. But PFF has no credibility with me. |
Re: PFF: Malcolm Jenkins NFL's best safety
Another example showing that the problem here is with the coaching.

If this is true then I blame Payton and the rest of the coaching staff for their ineptitude. Can't wait to replace all of them. My friends - it is time to close this chapter of the saints

Re: PFF: Malcolm Jenkins NFL's best safety
The reason might be coaching, or playing with other players, or him just developing mentally. It's never only one thing that creates the success for a player.
