Cam Newton: Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser

On Tuesday Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton addressed the criticism he has received for his terse postgame media session after losing to the Denver Broncos, 24-10, in Super Bowl 50.

Newton often gave one-word answers and left the podium in less than three minutes Sunday.

The difference between being a good loser and a sore loser is that one of them is an a$$hole.

Re: Cam Newton: Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser

I heard that. It was a predictable response. The ole "if I weren't upset, I wouldn't care" type thing has been said in numerous ways, but the exact words Cam used have to be the most commonly stated. It's ok to be a bad loser and show anger at losing. I don't mind a post game tirade talking about how everyone sucked, as long as you mention yourself first. Pouting and walking away from the matter is what we call a sore loser. There is a difference.

This just makes me sad for the future of the game, #shrug. This is the MVP of the League who doesn't know the difference between not accepting losing and losing poorly? Somebody really failed raising this guy, just sayin',.

Still not impressed,.

What I noticed with his actions at the press conference after the game he avoided reporters questions.
Like the play where he watched the fumble roll around and decided not to try and recover it.
And his overall poor performance on the field all day.
So who's kidding who, he knew what he was doing.

Obviously, he has learned absolutely nothing from the whole experience. It's still somebody else's fault. He's such a ****-for-brains.

No? I just sealed the game, that's all...dumbass.

Re: Cam Newton: Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser

It seems that Cam believed the BS that the Panther's success was all because of Cam. Forget little things like having the one of the top D's in the league. Forget that Carolina's D had a stunning +20 turnover differential, a whole +6 better than second place KC.

Nope. None of that matters. It was all about Cam. Mr. MVP.

Seems like the D showed up on Sunday. Seems that Cam didn't. Seems like Cam quit on the last fumble.

Seems like Cam isn't a good loser. Cam isn't a bad loser (according to Cam). Cam is just a loser.

This f'in guy.
Up until he had to open his mouth again I didn't have a problem with the interview. I know I am in the minority, but I'm tired of the 'give them credit' , 'they're a great team' blah blah bs. He was pissed, and didn't want to talk about it. Been there.
But this a$$hat has to blame everyone else, give a piss-poor explanation, and remind me that I should have continued to hate him 100% instead of 98% for two days

Russell Wilson threw a game lossing pass. He sat there and answered every question with class an dignity. I don't really like him either
, i have a lot of respect for him.

Cam acted like a little baby. I'm not saying it's easy. You just can't act like he did.

Thought it was kinda' chicken **** under the circumstances, I did understand that you don't want your QB risking injury scrumming with defensive lineman for a ball. It was the SuperBowl though, not like you got another game next week, #shrug.

Let's do the math, shall we? 15pts scored off two Cam Newton turnovers, 14pt margin of victory = -1, so yeah, maybe they did lose the game over that fumble ... or two, #shrug.

Yeah, nice Cam knows who Vince Lombardi was, except it's quoted out of context, #shrug.

Cam Newton used a Vince Lombardi quote to answer critics who took issue with the way he conducted himself after Carolina’s Super Bowl 50 loss.

“Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser,” Newton said.

Lombardi’s words are considered gospel in football circles. There is a certain poetic nature to see the future of the NFL use wisdom from the first Super Bowl winner.

The only problem is that the quote doesn’t hold up to much dissection.

What it’s supposed to imply is that losing should be seen as unacceptable and make the vanquished hot with fire, so it never happens again. It’s a fine sentiment and has obvious merit — especially for a football coach trying to get his team to rebound. What it also implies is that those that are “good” at losing are doing it wrong. That coping with a loss can be done one way and one way alone.

Sound familiar? It’s the reason why Newton is in the position to answer questions about his behavior in the first place ...

Yep, the self centered, narcissistic, sore loser you've always been. And with the statement you made above, you have no plans on changing that.

Re: Cam Newton: Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser

Since it appears that Cam likes Vince Lombardi quote, here are a few more.

"If you can't accept losing, you can't win."

"Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is."

"Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work."

And a very special one for Cam.

"When you go into the end zone, act like you've been there before."

Scam will become the next Marino, except Marino was a better QB than Newton.

News Flash......No one likes loosing! It's the way you handle yourself when you do loose that makes you a looser.

You know, I don't begrudge the whole "I'm unique" , "my Mom told me I was special" thing Cam's got going on, we're all special, our own persons and need our daily affirmations now & again, more so if you're in the public eye, I would imagine ... but I do expect him to act as an adult & a professional. Nothing "conforming" about that, #shrug. Be an individual, be unique ... cool, just quit acting like a petulant child for crissake!

What's so hard about that?.

I was brought up with the old school way of thinking

Be a gracious winner
Be an even more gracious as a loser

The test of a real man is in losing more than than winning. that is how i was brought up. I hold those values still.

Do not tell me i can not judge you by the standards I hold true

Cam has a long way to go to becoming a professional role model for my kids.

I am a fan of Barry Sanders style. score and hand the ball to the ref and get ready for the next series.

Re: Cam Newton: Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser

I have this theory that Cam is a robot created by global corporatists designed to keep everyone distracted in debating his character on social media and forums so that the final takeover of civilization can commence.

Well, I really don't believe that, but someone might :)

if that doesn't describe a Saints fan from the lean years, nothing does. I remember my dad saying that anyone can handle winning, losing builds character.

and speaking of losing, my guess is that he lost about $50 million in endorsements, not just bc he lost, but bc he acted like a loser afterwards.
I'm sure everyone was lined up to sign the NFL's anointed one, but he chucked it away with that performance (X2)
